When it comes to ladies watches, the market is not so full of choices. But the main issue is that a lot of the ladies models are just quartz. My wife told me she is always frustrated that for her, the usual (to read the only) choice must be, in the best case, an automatic with day/date. That is why she sometimes borrows some of my vintage watches that come in small-for-today sizes (thirty something mm).
But I was happy to introduce her to CHAUMET: the official jeweller to Empress Josephine.
This very special watch Ref. W20191-03F Hortensia “Aube Rosée” has everything a watch lover / enthusiast / obsessed wants: a tourbillon, grand Feu enamel and everything a girl wants: gold and diamonds. It’s a perfect combination for a lady with taste and knowledge about watches. And I forgot – it’s a 12-pieces limited and numbered edition.
The 39.90 mm diameter and 13.76mm thick case has 18-carat white gold bezel and horns set with 123 brilliant-cut in 4.00cts worth of diamonds, flanks engraved with hortensias pattern, and is set with 0.06ct – 9 brilliant-cut diamonds. On top, the watch has a domed sapphire with anti-reflective treatment and the back it’s open for view with a sapphire crystal. The Crown is fluted and decorated with a grand feu enamel hortensia, and set with 1 brilliant-cut 0.01ct diamond.
The dial is filled with a pink opal background on an 18-carat white gold base: the crown of hortensias is sculpted and grand feu enamelled. The central foil has tones of white and pink – and as my wife said – is gorgeous. The hands are leaf shaped and polished.
This watch has a very special movement – the caliber CP12V-IX: five days (120h) of power reserve, 24 jewelry and a tourbillon with a 21600 vph beating heart. This beautiful decorated movement has as a special star, other than the tourbillon, the rear main plate and cage upper bridge that is crafted in a special hortensia form. The back view is spectacular.
Another “small” detail is the buckle: 18-carat white gold folding buckle, decorated with three hortensias set with 3 brilliant-cut diamonds and mounted on a matt white alligator leather strap.
