Haute Horlogerie is a loved subject between watch lovers and today I would like to ask if this is considered High-Level Watchmaking. I say yes and I will explain why: The Louis Vuitton brand may be known for their bags but they are also manufacturing watches – some of them a little bit flashy, but some are actually nice examples of high-quality watchmaking.
This is the case of their Flying Tourbillon: packed in a 41mm platinum PT950 case and manufactured by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the caliber LV 104 is without a doubt one of the most beautiful movement presented this year: 168 components, 80 hours of power reserve, 17 jewels and a heart beating with 21600 vph.
All the constituent elements have the highest finishes available. The power reserve barrel has the Louis Vuitton carved and is visible through the sapphire dial – a nice touch. Also, the V of the tourbillon and the bridge holding it in a shape that brings the LV logo in mind are a sign of pride. Not to mention the V shape indices on the dial. I really love it.
