Eterna 1948 Heritage

1948 Heritage by Eterna

Reading Time: 2 minutes
Eterna is one of those watch companies who has made history: in 1948 Eterna improved the 360-degree rotor design using ball bearings instead of jewel bearing, providing a more reliable and robust support for the weight wing.
The Eterna-matic movement from 1948
In the Heritage Collection, Eterna celebrates the most important milestone of 160 years of their history and for today I would like to present two of the 1948 series: Ref. 2958.41.60.1403 and Ref. 2956.41.13.1389.
I consider the chronograph 1948 one of the most classical and beautiful designs.
The case is a polished and brushed stainless steel with 40mm diameter and 13,8 mm thickness – a good dimension for a dress watch for those who like a little bit more from their elegant watch, with sapphire crystal on top and caseback with sapphire opening and can it resist water up to 50m.
The white dial is made of Opaline with polished indices and polished hands. The hour and minute hands have luminescent inlay and the date hand is red tipped. The layout is classic for the calibre underneath the dial: the date, hour, minute, chronograph seconds hands are centrally based, the small second and 24h hands at 9 o’clock, the day and month’s small windows together with 30min display at 12 o’clock, the 12h chronograph and the moon phase at 6 o’clock.
The chronograph pushers and the crown are also polished.
The movement used is another classic – ETA7751, used by many brands as a reliable and robust chronograph.
Watchbase description of ETA7751
This movement has a 30mm diameter, 25 jewels and a power reserve of 42 hours (28800vph).
The watch comes with a “Testa di moro” calf leather strap and a polished pin buckle with the Eterna logo and can be found on the market with less than 2000 euro: chrono24.com
There is also another dial colour version – sun-brushed anthracite, with dark green calf leather strap.
The ladies 1948 Collection follows the same lines as the men watches.
For the ladies, there is available in a 30.3mm diameter polished steel case, the same shape as the chronograph, an automatic date watch.
The dial is sun-brushed light silver with polished indices, it has a date window at 3 o’clock and the hour, minute and central second hands polished.
The movement powering this watch is the Eta calibre ETA2681.
Watchbase description of ETA2681
With a diameter of 19.4mm, this automatic movement has 25 jewels and 38 hours of power reserve (28800vph).
The watch has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, black alligator leather strap with a polished pin buckle and 50m water resistance.
The Heritage 1948 for her series includes a version with diamonds as indices and white alligator leather strap, one with polished and brushed stainless steel strap with folding clasp and one with the bezel endowed with 68 diamonds and brushed stainless steel strap with folding clasp.
All the images and information are from the Eterna Website, please visit the Heritage Collection for more information. The watches can be bought at one of the Official Retailers.
I would like to thank Watchbase.com for the ETA movement images and information and Eterna.com for the images of the watches and information.
