This week, my colleague and a fellow collector D. made my a surprise and brought with him the watches acquired for his marriage anniversary. We started an ad-hoc foto session with inappropriate neon light but with a lot of joy.
The watches are from Stuttgart collection of Bruno Söhnle.
The ref. 17-12173-223, Stuttgart Automatik Big is a 42 mm diameter automatic watch with 10.8 mm height and 5 atm water resistance.
The case has a satin brushed steel body and lugs with a mirror polished bezel. The crown is also satin brushed and has the BS logo engraved.
The dial of this watch satisfies my need of blue: if normally the blue hands are enough, this watch has also blue, in relief, Roman numerals. The white guilloche dial with the company’s logo at 12 o’clock together with the proud origin – the city of Glashütte.
The date window at 3 o’clock has a nice contrasting blue frame. The applied numerals are blue lacquered and show up very nice on the white dial. The hands are thermally blued steel with skeletonised hands for the hours and minutes and filled with luminescent.
The watch has a sapphire crystal on top with inner antireflective coating and a mineral glass on the bottom.
The Stuttgart Automatik Big is powered by the Sellita SW200. The Swiss made calibre is 25.60 mm – 11½’’’ diameter with a height of 4.6 mm and has 26 jewels and 38 hours of power reserve for a frequency of 4Hz (28800 vph).
The SW200 movement is nicely decorated with perlage, thermally blued screws and the rotor is skeletonized and decorated with Geneva stripes.
This watch has a calfskin strap decorated with a metal pin with BS logo, blue on top and tan coloured with logo on the bottom with a steel butterfly buckle.
The watch is more a dress watch but looks very good as an everyday gentleman’s watch. It feels cosy on the wrist and readability is good in any light.
The lady watch, ref. 1712174341 has the same satin brushed case with polished bezel but in a smaller size: 36 mm.
The watch has a blue lacquered sunburst dial with a date window at 3 o’clock. The hands are polished steel with luminescent filled hour and minute’s hands.
The dial has polished steel indexes for hours and printed indexes for minutes.
The watch is equipped with the same Sellita SW200 movement but gold decorated.
The lady Stuttgart Automatik has a calfskin strap with a steel double folding clasp with Bruno Söhnle engraving.
For more information please visit the Bruno Söhnle Website. The watches can be seen or bought from one of the Official Retailers. The price for the Stuttgart Automatik Big is 850 Euro and for the Lady Stuttgart Automatik Small – 765 Euro.
I would like to thank my colleague D. for the courtesy and patience.
