Presenting Parmigiani Toric Fleur

Parmigiani Fleurier is one of those brands close to my heart that I have always enjoyed meeting in the wild. The independent has a strong brand language that makes the watches stand out for those “knowing”. Otherwise, the watches are pleasant and subtle. These properties I mostly enjoy at the ladies’ collections, that are delicate, pure and feminine. Today I present you a watch that I adore – Parmigiani Toric Fleur. Inspired by the Japanese spring, this watch combines finesse and elegance with exceptional decorations.

Review Parmigiani Toric Fleur

Parmigiani Toric Fleur was inspired by a haiku written by the master poet Yosa Buson:

The spring sea
Swaying gently
All day long.

In Michel’s mind was born the idea of a watch that catches the spirit of this haiku, the permanence of spring and the passage of time. The creation uses flowers in blossom. They are represented young and strong, breaking the ice and snow represented by the mother of pearl dial.

Refined, elegant, recognisable – the Toric case

Parmigiani Toric Fleur is part of the Toric Collection. The collection is highlighted by several exterior elements: the lugs with strong shoulders and curved tear shape, the knurled bezel decorated with voluptuous rings and the slim profile.

A super cute detail and a nice touch to the overall design is the stone cabochon mounted in the crown. The crown, manufactured as the rest of the case in 18k gold, has effortless handling. The watch has a nice feel by setting and/or winding.

On the backside, we find a case back fixed with four screws. The skirt bears the goldsmith’s markings, the serial numbers and the number of the limited edition. The Parmigiani calibre PF310 is revealed under a sapphire crystal. The watch is fitted, as expected from Parmigiani Fleurier, with a Hermès calf leather strap. The strap colour is Etoupe.

A delicate dial

Parmigiani Toric Fleur has a beautiful dial. Decorated relatively simple, the dial bears a bouquet of blossomed flowers, a miniature gold decoration.

The name of the brand was printed on the back of the sapphire crystal to keep the dial clean. The name is visible but does not burden the view. The thin sculpture is applied in a recessed areal on the centre of the dial. Note in the picture above how the brand’s name reflections are mirrored by the polished embroidery.

The dial is decorated with supple applied gold Arabic numerals. The used font is gorgeous and fits very well the watch’s face.

The lower side of the dial is occupied by the small seconds’ subdial. A long pointed baton hand hovers over black printed indexes. Another charming detail is the six o’clock index that resembles a blade of grass that brakes free from ice and snow. The mother of pearl unique properties fits perfectly the watch’s theme.

Other elements that remind us of nature are the leaf-shaped hands with luminescent material. This brings better legibility in low light situations.

An exceptional movement

Parmigiani Toric Fleur is powered by the beautiful in-house calibre PF310. The automatic movement uses 189 components of which 28 are jewels. The heart of the PF310 vibrates at a frequency of 28’800 A/h, the watch depleting its power reserve in 50 hours.

Calibre PF310 is exquisitely decorated. The prominent element will be the solid gold rotor which is delicately engraved with a barley grain motif and the Parmigiani Fleurier logo insignia. The bridges are adorned with soleil Côtes de Genève with the epicentre at the balance wheel. A subtle polished chamfering can be observed at the edges of the bridges. The movement offers a charming view.

The main bridge holds engraved and gilded logo and the most important details of the movement.

Delicate, feminine – Toric Fleur

Parmigiani Toric Fleur is a dazzling proposal for a lady that knows and appreciate fine watchmaking. The watch excels equally in the beauty of the dial and the refinement of the movement visible on the back. The ladies’ watch respects faithfully the brand’s language, being easily recognisable as a Toric timepiece.

The watch is quite subtle. Its elegance does not shine excessively, recommending the watch for daily wear. A lady wearing the Parmigiani Toric Fleur will only catch the views of connoisseurs, admiring its owner for her taste and choice.
