The North Sea’s frigid waters are unforgiving. Working more than 300m deep, in pitch black and under crushing pressure more than 30 times greater than that on the surface, requires courage and skill. The North Sea Divers, who in 1967 first helped unlock the riches off the coast of Norway, had those qualities in droves. Their work paved the way for Norway to invest its wealth in socially and environmentally friendly projects that will benefit generations to come.
Now boutique Swiss watchmaker Edox, the official watch partner of the North Sea Divers, honours the achievements of these divers with the release of an historical limited edition timepiece.
The Edox 43mm North Sea 1967 Automatic (just 320 pieces available worldwide) pays homage to classic vintage dive watches of the past, such as the legendary Edox Delfin.
The aged bronze case which houses the automatic Calibre 80 movement reinforces Edox’s strong maritime connections and reflects the rich and colourful history of the deep-sea diving industry.
Naturally, the North Sea 1967 Historical Limited Edition has outstanding water resistance – down to 320m. The hands and indices are coated with Superluminova for enhanced visibility at night or in the water and the individually numbered case back features a stylised diver’s helmet, the official logo of the North Sea Divers.
Resplendent with a black leather strap or with a water-resistant black nylon and leather strap, the North Sea 1967 Historical Limited Edition is a striking addition to the Edox collection and a fitting tribute to the North Sea’s deep-dive pioneers.
