Perrelet, the Swiss brand founded by master watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet in 1777, is known worldwide for its timepieces characterised by the patented Double Rotor and Turbine technologies. The latter, developed in 2009, boasts a 12-blade propeller in black anodised aluminium, reminiscent of propellers used in both the aeronautical and nautical fields. Making the turbine extremely fascinating is its oscillation that animates the dial. A signature feature unequivocally linked to the Maison Perrelet. This innovative technology is a constant incentive for the brand’s designers to give free rein to their creativity. Over the years, they have explored an impressive number of themes that have resulted in multiple decorative depictions of the lower dial, identifying the collection. From camouflage motifs, to animalier, to popular Japanese symbols, to rainbow colours, to name but a few, right up to the new “Turbine Poker” in which playing cards take centre stage.
Created to satisfy watchmaking enthusiasts who also love card games, and especially poker, “Turbine Poker” is crafted in a 44 mm diameter stainless steel case with black PVD coating and is water resistant to 5 Atm. Its design belongs to the second generation of the Turbine collections introduced with the Turbine EVO models that celebrated the 10th anniversary of Turbine technology in 2019. The flat and smooth bezel, the redesigned lugs and the prominent crown personalised with the Maison‘s logo which allows for a better grip when setting the time or winding the watch, identify it at a glance.
The “Turbine Poker” is a time-only model with central hour, minute and seconds hands, produced in a limited series of 50. Its complex dial is composed of three key elements that set Perrelet timepieces apart on the watchmaking scene: the sub-dial, the 12-blade rotating turbine and its characteristic hour ring. All protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The star of this new creation is its black sub-dial depicted with poker cards. Exactly those of the royal flush, in red and black, in the suits of hearts and spades. An assortment of aces, kings, queens, jacks and 10s, with the addition of a pair of 7 of hearts and spades.
As always, the iconic Turbine fulfils its task. This striking feature of the Turbine collections provides its owner with an intriguing and fascinating “see-through” effect. Indeed, the faster the Turbine rotates, the more magically the leitmotif of the sub-dial materialises in its entirety, offering eye-catching optical effects.
The black hour ring highlights the large rhodium-plated hour markers mixed with even Arabic numerals and filled with white Super-LumiNova, as well as the hour and minute hands, ensuring optimal legibility in low-light conditions. The bright red seconds hand matches the hearts cards and brightens up the display.
The Perrelet ‘Turbine Poker’ is equipped with the in house manufactured self-winding P-331-MH calibre, whose excellent precision and reliability are guaranteed by the COSC and Chronofiable certifications after having undergone a series of tests. Its regulating organ beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and the single barrel provides a power reserve that allows the watch to run for 42 hours when not worn.
The finely finished movement is visible through the sapphire crystal porthole. The open case back allows the owner to admire the precious circular graining decoration on the bridges and the exquisite open-worked and rhodium-plated oscillating weight, embellished with the Maison’s logo.
The ‘Turbine Poker’ comes with a black alligator pattern leather strap with rubber lining and is delivered in an exclusive ‘tactical box’ containing an additional black rubber strap and a fastening tool.
