Celebrity guests joined OMEGA in Mykonos to salute the 75th anniversary of Seamaster, and the launch of the Seamaster in Summer Blue collection.
The sparkling Aegean was the sea of choice for OMEGA’s Seamaster celebration, attended by an impressive line-up of guests from the worlds of sports, entertainment, and exploration, including George Clooney, Naomie Harris, Victor Vescovo, Blair Tuke and Peter Burling.
Reflecting the theme “Precision at Every Level”, the event paid tribute to the famous watch line in multiple ways, from in-depth talks on exploration and conservation to the launch of a new range: the Seamaster in Summer Blue collection.
The seven iconic models – eleven watches in all – feature a unique blue, used in greater or lesser degrees to reflect the water resistance of each model. The watches in the new collection range from the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M, perfect for life on deck, to the Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep 6,000M, equipped for the dark abyss.
The latter being a domain familiar to friend of OMEGA and guest speaker Victor Vescovo, who in early 2019 successfully piloted his submersible Limiting Factor to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, setting a new world record and proving the worth of OMEGA’s Ultra Deep concept watches at 10,928m.
Also in Mykonos were brand ambassadors Blair Tuke and Peter Burling of Emirates Team New Zealand. The America’s Cup defenders and winners of multiple Olympic medals made time in their busy schedule to speak up for the sea. The kiwis are founders of Live Ocean: a registered New Zealand charity, which supports and invests in promising marine science, innovation, technology, and conservation projects.
The story of the Seamaster is a source of pride for OMEGA President and CEO Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann, who spoke highly of its enduring legacy: “The many tributes paid to Seamaster here in Greece offer proof of its versatility. As well as being a watch stylish enough to turn heads, it can hold its own in extreme environments. The name says it all! The Seamaster is a legend. 75-years and still going strong.”
In keeping with an event focused on the ocean, OMEGA’s Seamaster celebration in Mykonos concluded with a candlelit dinner by the beach.
