Perrelet, the long-established Swiss watch Manufacture, continues to express creativity and inventiveness by interpreting its most iconic model, the Turbine, in an ever-changing way – Perrelet Turbine Carbon Mexico. The result of an exclusive patented technology inspired by aircraft propellers, the Turbine collections have become well-known for the countless variations of its sub-dials. With its see-through effect, in a cyclic and continuous change, thanks to the rotation of its 12 blades, this component creates extraordinary optical effects at the slightest movement of the wrist.

In addition to the Turbine Mexican Flag and Turbine Mexican Skull unveiled in 2020, Perrelet is once again paying homage to the vast Latin country with the new “Turbine Carbon Mexico”. The SIAR Summer Experience 2023, which will be held in Mexico City from 13 to 15 June, will be the occasion to introduce this unprecedented creation, which expresses the brand’s love for the Mexican nation in a new and refreshed style.

While the two previous models were decorated respectively with the flag and coat of arms of the federal state, and with the characteristic-coloured skull with floral motifs (emblem of Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead), the new “Turbine Carbon Mexico” boasts a more sober sub-dial that simply refers to the official national colours: green, white and red. These were adopted after the War of Independence from Spain (1810/21) and have precise meanings: green stands for hope, white for unity and red for the blood of patriots.

In the “Turbine Carbon Mexico”, Perrelet brings the shades together in a very original version: the flange is green, the Delta hands are white as well as the hour markers with a red outline and the central seconds hand is red. The sub-dial, in turn, is divided into 12 white and red segments in a turbine blades shape, depicted on a green background.

The case, 44 mm in diameter, is crafted in carbon fibre and polycarbonate, two extremely light and resistant materials that provide maximum comfort on the wrist, ensure long-lasting durability and endow it with a contemporary high-tech look. The water-resistance to 10 ATM allows the watch to be used confidently in all situations of daily life.

The flat bezel and the case back are made of black PDV (Physical Vapor Deposition) coated stainless steel with a matt finish. As always, the case band is decorated with the distinctive vertical grooves, while the flared and prominent crown allows for optimal grip and improved handling. The watch’s look is completed by a green leather strap with alligator pattern and rubber lining, which is secured to the wrist by means of a folding clasp.

Co-star of the Turbine Carbon México, alongside the colours, is its 12-blade turbine, in black anodised aluminium, perfectly balanced thanks to five tungsten counterweights. Their assembly requires the skill and expertise of the Manufacture‘s master watchmakers, confirming once again their qualified watchmaking know-how. Patented in 2009, the Turbine is not connected to the barrel to avoid slowing downits rotation speed, but has only a purely aesthetic function. Free to rotate on its own axis with a hypnotic motion, it confers a unique and recognisable identity to the collection.
