Mido Baroncelli Chronograph Moonphase

A breath of fresh air in fine watchmaking

The dazzling blue sunray satin finish dial of the Baroncelli Chronograph Moonphase lends a face to the intricate mechanism of this timekeeping wonder. The date – indicated on the flange by a central hand ending in a varnished blue crescent – is displayed against this navy backdrop, along with the day and month in a window on a counter with turquoise accents. The calendar is completed by a moonphase display at 6 o’clock, where a moon and golden stars traverse a deep azure sky. This exceptional timepiece also includes a chronograph complication. The time is measured by a central seconds hand, a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter. A third counter completes the display with a small seconds and the hours in a 24-hour format. For added elegance and contrast, all of the display elements stand out in silver: the edges of the counters, the markings, the faceted indexes and the diamond-polished and sand-blasted hands. A sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on both faces, ensures perfect readability.

A mechanical marvel

This new Baroncelli is housed in a gleaming 42 mm-diameter polished steel case that is water-resistant up to a pressure of 3 bar (30 m/100 ft). Two polished push-buttons on the flanks are used to operate the chronograph as desired. The transparent sapphire case back reveals the painstakingly decorated components of the Calibre 60. This highly reliable Swiss automatic movement – with a power reserve of up to 60 hours and calendar, moonphase and chronograph complications – is remarkably accurate thanks to its high-tech balance-spring in Nivachron™, an innovative material that helps to reduce the impact of magnetic fields while offering shock-resistance. A contemporary successor to the great Swiss watchmaking tradition, this calibre features refined finishes: blued screws, Côtes de Genève and a logo engraved on the oscillating weight.
