The inexhaustible creativity of Perrelet‘s designers is once again expressed in the new Turbine Hypnotic. It is a watch that, like few others, is capable to capture the attention. It catches the eye not only of the wearer but also of anyone who sees it even by chance, arousing curiosity and interest. More than a simple timepiece, it is almost an immersive experience that engages the senses and the emotions.
A unique technology
The Turbine Technology, exclusive to the Manufacture, which has never stopped innovating since its founding in 1777, is at the heart of the Turbine Hypnotic, as it is of the entire collection. Patented in 2009, this device is inspired by aeronautical propulsion: it consists of 12 blades in black anodized aluminium, a light yet durable material, that comes alive with the slightest movement of the wrist. When the turbine is in motion, its playful and entertaining movement reveals the illustration depicted on the lower dial of the watch. This playful effect has given the Maison the opportunity to develop a wide range of themes: animal, erotic, mythological, abstract, and even sports, yachting, and pilot subjects, with no limits to the imagination.
Despite its purely decorative function, the turbine boasts a complex construction: balancing the blades, which are held in place by 5 tungsten counterweights, requires the utmost precision during assembly so that it can rotate smoothly on its own axis and return to its resting position once the kinetic energy is exhausted. The perfect functioning of the turbine is a testament to the high level of expertise of the Manufacture’s master watchmakers.
An eye-catching and magical design
For the new Turbine Hypnotic, the Perrelet’s team drew inspiration from the Turbine Paranoia, a special edition launched in 2012 that featured the turbine blades decorated with a spiral motif in Super-LumiNova, while the sub-dial was monochrome.
The new Turbine Hypnotic goes one step further: it sports the spiral motif in Super-LumiNova with green light emission, not only on the blades, but also on the lower dial. As the turbine spins, the two spirals merge to create unexpected geometric shapes, similar to those of an ever-changing, glowing kaleidoscope. The result is striking and magnetic, enchanting and almost magical.
Distinctive aesthetics
Compared to its predecessor, however, the Perrelet Turbine Hypnotic has undergone a design evolution that echoes the lines of the second-generation Turbine, first introduced in 2019 with the Turbine EVO. The stainless-steel case, with a diameter of 44 mm and black PVD coating, water resistant to 5 Atm, features the typical architecture of the EVO collection: the bezel is smooth, while the case middle is fluted, as are the case back ring and the easy-grip crown bearing the P logo. The hour-markers are filled with white Super-LumiNova: the Arabic numerals alternating with baton indices on the flange and the hour and minute hands are clearly visible in all light conditions without compromising the kaleidoscopic effect on the dial, made even clearer by the anti-reflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The red seconds hand adds a touch of vibrant colour to the dial. The sapphire crystal porthole on the case back allows a perfect view of the refined and superbly finished movement.
The watch comes with a black rubber-lined calf leather strap fastened to the wrist by means of a black PVD steel pin buckle.
The manufacture calibre
Turbine Hypnotic is equipped with the same self-winding mechanical movement that is powering many of the Maison‘s collections as of 2019. Designed and manufactured in-house, the P-331-MH calibre offers a power reserve of 42 hours and has a balance wheel that beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
It is a movement of proven precision and reliability, attested to by two prestigious certifications: the first issued by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), the second by Chronofiable®, both independent institutes that have submitted it to rigorous testing protocols to verify its exceptional performances. Worthy of note are the finishes carried out by Perrelet in compliance with the high-quality standards of Swiss high-end watchmaking: the main plate decorated with colimaçon finish, the circular-grained bridges and the openworked, rhodium-plated and brushed oscillating weight bearing the Perrelet logo.
Availability
Perrelet Turbine Hypnotic will be available from mid-May 2024 through authorized retailers worldwide. In Europe and the United States, it will also be available for purchase on the company’s official E-commerce site.

ABOUT PERRELET
Perrelet, Bienne-based Swiss watch company whose roots date back to 1777, is world-renowned for its timepieces with “animated” dials.
Its collections, featuring the iconic Double Rotor and Turbine technologies, pays tribute to founder Abraham-Louis Perrelet, the precursor of the first self-winding movement, and are recognised signature features of the brand. He is also credited with the creation of the first pedometer in 1780.
As heirs of the genius master watchmaker, every model in Perrelet’s collection is fitted with an in-house automatic movement.
Driven by a desire to innovate watchmaking, Perrelet presented the first automatic movement with a Double Rotor in 1995, enabling the movement to draw its energy from the two perfectly synchronised rotors, thus ensuring a more efficient winding force.
Since 2004, Perrelet has been part of the Festina Group, owned by the Spanish entrepreneur Miguel Rodriguez, who also owns a prestigious watchmaking pole comprising no less than six production sites, including Soprod. This latter allows the brand total autonomy in the production of its timepieces and consequently maximum freedom of creation.
Under the leadership of Miguel Rodriguez, Perrelet developed and patented the Turbine technology in 2009 and introduced the new-generation P-331-MH automatic calibre, COSC and Chronofiable® certified, which powers many of the brand’s collections as of 2019, as well as the peripheral rotor equipping the LAB Peripheral line.
