TAG Heuer is delighted to announce the launch of its new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon. Following in the footsteps of the 2023 launch, the Swiss watchmaker introduces a new European limited edition chronograph tourbillon. The exclusive piece is numbered and limited to 50 quantities; it will be engraved ‘LIMITED EDITION’ and ‘XX/50’.
Following the 60th anniversary of the TAG Heuer Carrera in 2023, the Swiss watchmaker perpetuates values of performance and avant-garde, and nurtures its search for precision. Since being introduced in 1963, TAG Heuer’s icon has become a symbol of success and good taste, it was spotted on the wrist of influential people such as Mick Jagger, James Hunt or Ryan Gosling.
Over six decades of excellence
Introduced in 1963, the TAG Heuer Carrera has defined the wristwatch chronograph genre for over six decades. Celebrated in 2023 for its 60th anniversary, this timepiece became a recognized symbol of classical elegant profile, ultra-legible dial, and precision engineering that has made it a must-have accessory for racing enthusiasts and watch aficionados worldwide.
Named after the legendary Carrera Panamericana Road race, Jack Heuer gave the unique and impactful appellation to his watch collection. The Carrera swiftly commended itself to the hearts and wrists of many through its precision that consistently pushed boundaries, allowing wearers to become just one with their watch.
The watch remained a pillar in the chronograph scene and continues to captivate with the introduction of new models every year, becoming a must-have accessory for collectors, racers, and fans.
A swirling snowstorm
TAG Heuer is delighted to announce the launch of its new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon. Following in the footsteps of the 2023 launch, the Swiss watchmaker introduces a new European limited edition chronograph tourbillon. The exclusive piece is numbered and limited to 50 quantities; it will be engraved ‘LIMITED EDITION’ and ‘XX/50’.
Inspired by the legendary automobile races on frozen tracks of the alps, the TAG Heuer Carrera Tourbillon has been created for competitors, collectors, and car enthusiasts. From the pozzi blue to the meerblue Paint To Sample of Porsche, the watch embodies the Carrera’s emblematic history and its undeniable link with the world of automobiles. With its refined white dial, deep blue touches and delicate red finishing, this Tourbillon perfectly reflects the pure, elegant, and bright atmosphere of the Alps. Much like the passion of the automobile racers on ice tracks, the TAG Heuer Carrera Tourbillon testifies to an unwavering commitment to excellence, making no compromise on precision and high-end chronometry.
First perfected more than 200 years ago, a tourbillon is a continuously rotating cage that surrounds the escapement and is designed to counteract the influences of gravity on the accuracy of a mechanical movement. Few watchmakers have mastered this complication, TAG Heuer being among an elite group of manufacturers to have mastered the craft – and displayed here at 6 o’clock.
The new watch introduces features that translate the racing heritage of the brand, and reminisce the vintage Carrera Calibre 17, such as perfect legibility obtained with the “glass box” sapphire crystal as well as the fiery red chronograph seconds hand – the latter’s triangular shape inspired by 1960s racecars dashboard instruments. This same shade of red is used to highlight the TAG Heuer logo that stands out against the snow-white dial of the watch, similarly to the Heuer logo of the original Carrera Calibre 17. The deep azure subdials, surrounded by rings of a similar hue, give the piece a “panda” look, the high contrast with the main dial enhancing readability.
The beating heart of the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon was created by TAG Heuer Movements Director Carole Forestier-Kasapi and the Swiss watchmaker’s technical teams. It delivers bidirectional winding, increased efficiency and accuracy, as well as a higher level of finishing. A sapphire case back showcases the TH20-09 movement, which comes with a five-year warranty.
Even with such refined detailing, the watch is arguably characterized most by its stylish, timeless color palette: stainless steel for the 42-mm case, a frost white dial contrasting with a signature TAG Heuer icy blue subdials, as well as racing red details on the seconds hand and the logo, which ties it all together.
