This January, the horological universe was graced with a remarkable debut: Tiffany & Co.‘s first participation in the prestigious LVMH Watch Week. Synonymous with timeless luxury and unparalleled craftsmanship, Tiffany’s entrance into this esteemed event was nothing short of extraordinary. Against a backdrop of artistic innovation and technical precision, the storied American Maison unveiled a stunning repertoire of timepieces that seamlessly fused its illustrious legacy with a bold vision for the future.
A Storied Legacy, Reimagined
Founded in 1837 and boasting nearly two centuries of craftsmanship, Tiffany & Co.’s reputation as a purveyor of fine jewellery and timepieces remains unassailable. Since introducing its own watches in 1874, Tiffany has consistently pushed the boundaries of design and engineering. Its inaugural presence at LVMH Watch Week reaffirms its position as a global authority in horology.
This year, Tiffany & Co. took us on a journey through time, presenting a dazzling array of five new timepieces and historic masterpieces. These creations told the brand’s story through three themes: heritage, design, and craftsmanship. Accompanying the showcase was an archive of 20 exceptional vintage timepieces, including a historic pocket watch gifted to Captain Arthur Rostron of the RMS Carpathia.
The Collections: A Symphony of Craftsmanship and Design
Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany: Bird on a Flying Tourbillon
This high-jewellery masterpiece epitomizes Tiffany’s commitment to haute horlogerie. A limited edition of just 25 pieces, the Bird on a Flying Tourbillon combines artistry and engineering in an exquisite 39mm white gold case. The dial, a marvel of turquoise marquetry, features 18k gold birds seemingly in mid-flight. Beneath a faceted sapphire crystal dome—a groundbreaking feature in watchmaking—lies a flying tourbillon, powered by the bespoke Caliber AFT24T01.
The watch’s opulent details include 848 round brilliant diamonds totalling nearly 4 carats. Setting the gemstones alone requires over 100 hours, showcasing Tiffany’s unparalleled dedication to precision and beauty.
Bird on a Rock: Full Pavé Diamond and Tsavorite Variations
The iconic Bird on a Rock design, rooted in Jean Schlumberger’s whimsical vision, was reinterpreted in two dazzling new editions.
The Full Pavé Diamond model, a study in luminescence, features over 1,300 diamonds totalling more than 8 carats. Its five-row bracelet sparkles with 628 diamonds, while the 36mm case is a canvas for intricate snow-setting techniques.
The Tsavorite variant, meanwhile, enchants with its verdant green outer ring, set with 36 baguette tsavorites of 5.4 carats. A dark green alligator strap with a diamond-set buckle completes the ensemble, underscoring the watch’s luxurious aesthetic.
Carat 128 Aquamarine: A Unique Masterpiece
Inspired by the legendary Tiffany Diamond, the Carat 128 Aquamarine is an unparalleled high-jewelry creation. Its defining feature is a 34.52-carat diamond-cut aquamarine crystal, which serves as the dial’s protective glass. Complemented by a white gold case set with 897 diamonds totaling over 29 carats, this unique piece required 315 hours of meticulous craftsmanship.
The bracelet, adorned with Tiffany’s signature six-prong diamond setting, amplifies the brilliance of 251 round diamonds, cementing the watch as a beacon of Tiffany’s creativity and expertise.
Eternity by Tiffany: Wisteria Enamel
The Wisteria timepiece is a poetic nod to Tiffany Studios’ iconic stained-glass lamps. Using plique-à-jour enamelling, a painstaking technique that allows light to filter through the dial, artisans created a luminous floral tableau. Each of the 12-hour markers is a uniquely cut diamond, celebrating Tiffany’s unmatched authority in fine gemology.
Jean Schlumberger: Twenty Four Stone
This contemporary homage to the Sixteen Stone collection reinterprets Jean Schlumberger’s timeless motifs. A rotating outer ring, adorned with yellow gold cross-stitches and 24 diamonds, lends dynamic movement to the 39mm timepiece. Snow-set diamonds on the central disc and case complete this luminous marvel, powered by the Caliber LTM 2100 with a 38-hour power reserve.
A New Era of Excellence
Tiffany & Co.’s debut at LVMH Watch Week was nothing less than a triumph. By marrying its rich heritage with cutting-edge innovation, the Maison not only paid homage to its storied past but also boldly staked its claim in the future of horology. Each timepiece unveiled was a testament to Tiffany’s commitment to artistry, craftsmanship, and the celebration of beauty in all its forms.
As the curtain fell on this momentous event, one thing was certain: Tiffany & Co. had not merely joined this high watchmaking event but it had elevated it, leaving an indelible mark.
