The Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue, reference LCF012.G1.NGE10, marks Laurent Ferrier’s 15th-anniversary creation, revisiting the original 2016 Galet Traveller Globe Night Blue with a reimagined dial and refined aesthetics. This timepiece combines a dual time zone function with haute horlogerie finishes, catering to the needs of the contemporary traveler.

The Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue dial is constructed with an 18k white gold spherical centre employing the champlevé enamelling technique. Continents are rendered in opaque blue enamel, punctuated with specks of enamelled gold to represent city lights at night. The central planisphere depicts the five continents, covered in blue enamel, and surrounded by a deep blue enamel sea. The execution of the enamelling on a convex, three-dimensional surface presents a significant technical challenge, requiring multiple firing stages to achieve the desired effect. A slate grey outer ring, finished with circular satin brushing, creates a visual depth, enhancing the illusion of a raised globe. Drop-shaped indices, crafted from 18k white gold, extend beyond the hour circle, further contributing to the dial’s three-dimensional appearance. Bevelled apertures at 3 and 9 o’clock display the date and home time, respectively, with the latter featuring a 24-hour display for clear day/night indication.

The Classic Traveller is powered by the LF 230.02 automatic caliber, which incorporates the dual time zone mechanism and date function. The movement features a unidirectional pawl-fitted micro-rotor made of 18k solid gold for automatic winding. The double direct-impulse natural escapement delivers impulses directly to the balance, enhancing efficiency and contributing to a 72-hour power reserve. The caliber measures 14’’’ (31.60 mm) in diameter and 5.80 mm in thickness, comprising 288 parts and 44 jewels, and operates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour).

The movement is decorated with rhodium-plated Côtes de Genève on the bridges and circular graining on the main plate, executed in the style of traditional haute horlogerie. Hand-beveled edges and hand-polished screw heads are evident throughout the movement.

The watch case is made of 18k 210 Pd white gold, with a diameter of 41 mm (49 mm including the lugs) and a thickness of 12.64 mm, including the domed sapphire crystal. Two oblong pushers are integrated into the left side of the case at 10 and 8 o’clock, enabling the adjustment of the local time in one-hour increments, with automatic date correction. The case is water-resistant to 30 meters and features a “ball-shaped” crown, also made of 18k 210 Pd white gold. The transparent case-back, made of domed sapphire crystal, offers a view of the movement and its finishes.
