Raymond Weil: The Freelancer Collection Enters a New Era

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The collaboration between RAYMOND WEIL and Sellita has yielded two technically sophisticated additions to the Freelancer collection, that will be presented at Watches & Wonders 2025. This partnership, deeply rooted in the brand’s heritage and guided by Elie Bernheim’s vision, underscores a commitment to mechanical innovation and contemporary horological expression.

The Freelancer Complete Calendar ( 3’775 EUR – 3’495 CHF) introduces a dial configuration that harmoniously integrates multiple calendar complications. Available in two distinct variants, the reference 2766-PC5-64001 features a sunray satin-finished dial in dune tones accented by rose gold-plated indexes, while the reference 2766-ST-50001 employs a sunray blue dial complemented by nickel-plated indexes. Both dials utilize Super-Luminova® treatment for enhanced legibility under low-light conditions. The moon phase complication, inspired by NASA imagery, is positioned at 6 o’clock, accompanied by date indication via a dedicated hand. Day and month windows are symmetrically placed at 11 and 1 o’clock respectively, resulting in a balanced visual arrangement.

The RW1212 Skeleton Cushion ( 3’725 EUR – 3’450 CHF) model presents an openworked dial with black galvanic finishing, prominently displaying the balance wheel at 6 o’clock. This architectural approach reveals the inner workings of the movement through an openworked traversing bridge, emphasizing mechanical depth and transparency. Applied indexes coated with white Super-Luminova® ensure readability against the dark backdrop.

The Complete Calendar model employs the RW3281 mechanical self-winding movement, offering a power reserve of approximately 56 hours. This caliber facilitates comprehensive calendar functions—day, date, month—and moon phase indication, integrating discreet correctors into the case design for practical adjustment.

Conversely, the RW1212 Skeleton Cushion houses RAYMOND WEIL‘s proprietary RW1212 automatic caliber developed in collaboration with Sellita. Featuring a 41-hour power reserve, this movement is distinguished by its balance wheel visibly showcased on the dial side at 6 o’clock. The construction highlights technical precision through meticulous component finishing and structural openness.

Both models exhibit refined case constructions characterized by ergonomic considerations and meticulous finishing techniques. The Complete Calendar watch adopts a traditional round shape measuring 40 mm in diameter with a thickness of 10.15 mm. Available in stainless steel or rose gold PVD-coated stainless steel variants, these cases combine polished and brushed surfaces to accentuate their geometric proportions. Curved lugs enhance wearability while integrated correctors maintain aesthetic purity.

The RW1212 Skeleton Cushion introduces a cushion-shaped case measuring 40 mm by 40 mm with a thickness of 10.5 mm. Executed in black PVD-coated stainless steel, this limited edition of 500 pieces merges contemporary aesthetics with robust practicality. Both models feature sapphire crystals treated with double-sided anti-reflective coating and offer water resistance up to 100 meters (10 ATM).

This collaborative effort between RAYMOND WEIL and Sellita epitomizes an intersection of traditional watchmaking expertise and contemporary design sensibilities within the Freelancer collection. By introducing advanced mechanical complications alongside innovative aesthetic treatments, these timepieces reflect both brands’ dedication to technical refinement and modern horological relevance. The result is a coherent expression of watchmaking prowess that remains firmly anchored in heritage while confidently exploring new creative avenues.
