Introducing the Pioneer Centre Seconds Sunny-Side Up, a creation by H. Moser & Cie. that boldly challenges traditional perceptions of haute horlogerie with an unexpected twist blending technical sophistication and playful narrative. This timepiece not only serves as a precise instrument for measuring the passage of time but also as a celebration of creativity within watchmaking, a universe where the existential debates of chickens and eggs collide with horological precision in a paradoxical display.
The dial of this intriguing watch exhibits a yellow fumé finish, adorned with a sunburst pattern, which reflects the thematic levity and technical prowess inherent in H. Moser & Cie‘s design ethos. Super-LumiNova® accents are thoughtfully integrated into the faceted applique indices and the leaf-shaped hour and minute hands, ensuring optimal legibility regardless of lighting conditions.

The brand’s logo is subtly applied in transparent lacquer, allowing the vibrancy of the dial to speak volumes on its own. Through these elements, the watch embodies a harmony between audacious design and meticulous craftsmanship, offering an engaging visual experience.

At the heart of the Pioneer Centre Seconds Sunny-Side Up is the HMC 201 automatic calibre, testament to H. Moser & Cie‘s dedication to mechanical excellence. The calibre, offering a minimum power reserve of three days, boasts dimensions of 32.0 mm or 14 1/4 lignes by 5.5 mm in height. A bi-directional pawl winding system supplies energy to the 27 jewels, while the engraved oscillating weight and the original Straumann® hairspring exemplify the watchmaker’s commitment to precision.

The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, ensuring that the watch ticks with reliability and grace. Details such as the anthracite finish with Moser double stripes and partially skeletonised bridges further epitomise the hybrid of artistry and science that defines this timepiece.

Encased in solid steel with a diameter of 40.0 mm and a height of 10.6 mm, the watch presents a robust and polished exterior. The domed sapphire crystal ensures durability and clarity, providing a window into the nuanced artistry within. Its see-through case-back invites the wearer to peer into the sophisticated mechanics that drive the watch.

Completing its versatile design, the screw-in crown is adorned with an “M”, emblematic of the brand’s identity and commitment to detail. This model is water-resistant up to 12 ATM, reflecting its suitability for various environments and occasions.

In sum, the Pioneer Centre Seconds Sunny-Side Up stands as an ode to the fusion of technical prowess and whimsical storytelling in haute horlogerie. Its ingenious design challenges the conventional, while its meticulous engineering upholds the time-honoured traditions of watchmaking excellence. Through this, H. Moser & Cie. invites wearers to not only observe time’s passage but engage with the playful dialogue between precision and imagination.

H. MOSER & CIE.
H. Moser & Cie. was created by Heinrich Moser in 1828. Based in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, it currently employs 120 people, has developed 20 in-house calibres to date and produces around 4,000 watches per annum. Through its sister company Precision Engineering AG (PEAG), H. Moser & Cie. manufactures parts such as regulating organs and balance-springs, which are used for its own production as well as to supply its partner companies. Independent company incorporated into Moser Watch Holding in 2012, Precision Engineering AG specialises in watch components for escapements, from their initial design to the production of a quality product ready to be integrated into the watch movement it must regulate. H. Moser & Cie. is honoured to have a Moser family member with the company as Honorary Chairman and President of the Heinrich and Henri Moser Foundation. The aim of the Moser Foundation, created by one of Heinrich Moser’s descendants, is to keep the family history alive and seek out antique pieces for the Moser Museum, located in Charlottenfels Manor, Heinrich Moser’s family home. With its substantial watchmaking expertise and highly acclaimed experience in the sector, MELB Holding holds shares in H. Moser & Cie., Hautlence and Agenhor SA. MELB Holding is an independent family group, based in the heart of the legendary Vallée de Joux.
