Eberhard & Co. reaffirms its role as Main Sponsor and Official Timekeeper of the Vernasca Silver Flag, a dynamic concours for the restoration and preservation of historic competition vehicles organized by the Piacenza Vintage Motor Vehicles Club (CPAE), now in its 29th edition.

The event is scheduled for the weekend of June 13–15, 2025, when crews from around the world will return to drive the scenic roads connecting the villages of Castell’Arquato and Vernasca, in the heart of the Val d’Arda. The enchanting curves of the Apennines will once again be closed to traffic to welcome, in a parade at moderate speed, extraordinary cars that are either perfectly restored or wellpreserved.

Tazio Nuvolari
The “Tazio Nuvolari” collection is dedicated to the motorsport myth, a man who has become a legend. “Tazio Nuvolari” is a mechanical self-winding chronograph with a special perlage finish on the screw-down caseback and bezel, inspired by the dashboards of vintage racing cars. The engraving of the driver’s signature and the stylised reproduction of the carapace – reminiscent of the good luck charm Gabriele D’Annunzio gave the great pilot with the dedication “To the fastest driver in the world, the slowest animal” – make these watches unique.

Among the noteworthy vehicles in competition, special mention goes to a 1907 FIAT 130 HP – usually housed at the National Automobile Museum in Turin – one of the most famous racing cars of the early 1900s, designed for the 1907 French Grand Prix; a 1933 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport, recently restored to its original splendor; a 1968 Lancia Fulvia Sport Zagato Competizione, a dominant force in Italian hill climbs with drivers Luigi Cabella “Carioca” and Giovanni Marini in the GT 1300 category, and winner of its category at the 1969 1000 km of Monza; the 1975 Lancia Stratos in Group 4 version, with which Adartico Vudafieri won the Italian Rally Championship in 1978.

Collector Corrado Lopresto, Eberhard & Co. Brand Ambassador, will also participate in the concours, driving a historically significant vehicle linked to a legendary motorsport figure to whom one of the Maison’s most distinctive collections is dedicated: Tazio Nuvolari. This is the 1948 Cisitalia D48, a rare single-seater built as an evolution of the D46, presented two years earlier by Turin industrialist Piero Dusio, with a 1200cc engine and more aerodynamic bodywork.

Produced in a single unit, chassis no. 036, the D48 was part of the official Cisitalia team and was entrusted to Nuvolari, who raced it in the 1948 Monaco Grand Prix, and to Piero Taruffi, who drove it in the Bari Grand Prix of the same year.

The theme chosen for this edition of the Vernasca Silver Flag, “World Champions,” celebrates a unique moment in the history of Italian motorsport: fifty years ago, in 1975, Ferrari won the F1 World Championship with Lauda, Alfa Romeo secured the World Manufacturers’ Championship, Lancia completed the trio of World Championships with the Rally World Championship, and Fiat won the European Rally Championship.

In addition to the dynamic parade, there will be side events dedicated to classic car enthusiasts, meetings with past protagonists, thematic exhibitions, and social gatherings. Eberhard & Co. will once again play a leading role in celebrating the excellence of historic motorsport, awarding its prestigious timepieces to the winners of the “Best of Show Pre-War Cars” and “Best of Show PostWar Cars” categories.
