Armin Strom Dual Time GMT Resonance Rose Gold

Armin Strom Dual Time GMT Resonance Rose Gold: When Physics Meets Haute Horlogerie

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Armin Strom continues to refine its resonance expertise with the Dual Time GMT Resonance Rose Gold, introducing the manufacture’s signature complication in an 18K rose gold case for the first time. This 50-piece limited edition builds on the technical foundation established in 2024 while adding a warmer aesthetic dimension to the collection.

Mechanical Architecture

The black gold-coloured grenage dial establishes the visual foundation, with two distinct time zones separated by black azurage chapter rings. Applied rose gold-coated indexes catch light against the darker surface, while the facetted rose gold hands track time across both displays. At 6 o’clock on each subdial, engraved and mirror-polished day/night indicators show sun and moon symbols, rendered in polished and blackened steel. The symmetrical layout exposes both balance wheels, creating a kinetic spectacle that transforms the dial into a live mechanical theatre where you can observe the resonance phenomenon in real time.

Calibre ARF22: Engineering Synchrony

The manually wound calibre ARF22 represents Armin Strom‘s approach to resonance, built entirely in-house across 231 components and 40 jewels. Two independent regulating systems drive separate time displays, each with its own hours, minutes, and AM/PM indication. The patented resonance clutch spring connects both balance wheels, functioning as a third oscillator that allows vibrational exchange between the regulators. This thin, multi-looped spring eliminates the need for precise distance adjustment between balance wheels, achieving synchronisation within 10 minutes while counteracting the effects of gravity, temperature variations, and shocks. Operating at 3.5Hz (25,200vph), the movement delivers 42 hours of power reserve. Hand-polished bevels, black-polished elements, circular graining, and perlage finish the dial-side architecture, while Côtes de Genève decorate the reverse.

Delicate In Precious Presentation

The 39mm diameter case in 18K rose gold measures 9.05mm in height with a 44.50mm lug-to-lug span. Sapphire crystals on both sides feature anti-reflective treatment, providing unobstructed views of the movement’s finishing and mechanical ballet. Water resistance reaches 5ATM, appropriate for a dress watch of this calibre. The rose gold pin buckle secures a matte grey alligator strap with grey stitching that complements the case material.

Final Assessment

Armin Strom positions this rose gold variant as a focused expression of independent watchmaking, where the resonance clutch spring remains the technical centrepiece. The manufacture assembles each watch twice, ensuring both mechanical precision and flawless finishing throughout. At CHF115,000, the Dual Time GMT Resonance Rose Gold commands a premium positioning within the resonance category, limited to 50 pieces worldwide.
