Ferrari Amalfi Spider: Open Air, No Compromises

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Ferrari unveiled the Amalfi Spider on 12 March 2026. I was not there in person. Yet the moment the press release arrived in my inbox, that familiar excitement came with it. This car commands attention from the first glance.

The Amalfi Spider is a 2+ front-mid-engine spider with a twin-turbo V8. Ferrari positioned it at the heart of its sporting lifestyle range. The goal is simple: serious performance with everyday usability. You can have both, and Ferrari delivers on that promise.

The Soft Top Done Right

The fabric soft top opens in just 13.5 seconds. You can operate it on the move at speeds up to 60 km/h. That one detail changes how you live with this car day to day. When stowed, the roof folds to only 220 mm thick. Boot capacity reaches 255 litres with the roof closed and 172 litres with it open.

Five layers of acoustic fabric construct the soft top. The result is impressive noise insulation and real thermal comfort inside the cabin. Ferrari took open-top practicality seriously here, and it shows.

640 hp That Means Business

The engine is the latest evolution of Ferrari‘s celebrated 3,855 cc V8 twin-turbo. It produces 640 hp at 7,500 rpm and 760 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 5,750 rpm. The redline sits at 7,600 rpm. Ferrari pushed the maximum turbo speed to 171,000 rpm, with independent control for each turbocharger. That sharpens throttle response and delivers stronger pull at every rev.

0–100 km/h arrives in 3.3 seconds. Top speed reaches 320 km/h. The eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, refined from the SF90 Stradale unit, brings precision and speed to every gear change.

A Design That Works Hard

Ferrari‘s Design Studio, directed by Flavio Manzoni, created a shape that flows naturally with the roof open or closed. Clean surfaces and sculpted volumes carry the visual story. Nothing feels superfluous.

Ferrari introduces the new Rosso Tramonto colour with the Amalfi Spider. It carries warm orange undertones inspired by the Amalfi Coast at dusk. The soft top comes in four tailor-made fabric colours and two technical options, including the new Tecnico Ottanio.

Inside, Everything Feels Intentional

The dual-cockpit layout gives driver and passenger a defined yet connected space. Physical buttons return on the steering wheel. The iconic anodised aluminium start button sits back on the left spoke. I genuinely love that decision. The 15.6-inch digital instrument cluster handles all driving and dynamics data. A 10.25-inch central display covers multimedia, climate, and vehicle settings. The passenger gets a dedicated 8.8-inch screen showing G-forces and engine revs.

Rear 2+ seats add genuine practicality without cluttering the design. An integrated wind deflector in the rear bench backrest reduces turbulence at the touch of a button. The driver can activate it at speeds up to 170 km/h.

Dynamics That Deliver

Ferrari fitted brake-by-wire for the first time in this model. It improves pedal modulation and reduces pedal travel noticeably. The ABS Evo system adapts across all surfaces and all five Manettino modes: Wet, Comfort, Sport, Race, and ESC-Off.

The rear active spoiler adjusts automatically across three positions. In the highest downforce setting, it generates up to 110 kg of extra rear load at 250 km/h. Tyres are 245/35 R20 at the front and 285/35 R20 at the rear. Pirelli P ZERO, Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport, and Bridgestone Potenza Sport each co-developed their compound for this specific application.

A Car Worth Wanting

The Ferrari Amalfi Spider is a proper driver’s car with the flexibility for everyday life. Seven years of included maintenance reinforce Ferrari’s confidence in this machine. The Amalfi Spider does not ask you to choose between excitement and practicality. It gives you both, and it does so with considerable style.

I find it very hard not to want one.
