Breguet Tradition 2026: Five New Reasons to Pay Attention

Twenty-one years after launching in 2005, the Tradition collection returns for 2026 with five new references that are the most colour-forward interpretation of this architecture Breguet has ever offered. I’ve been watching this collection evolve for years, and these updates feel like a genuine reset in ambition: four Seconde Rétrograde variants (refs. 7037, 7038, 7097, plus a platinum 7037 sibling) and one manually wound GMT (ref. 7067), each bringing new dials, restructured movement finishing, and a fresh material vocabulary.

The Dials

The dial story is where 2026 gets genuinely interesting, and I’ll start there because it carries the most visible change across the collection. Breguet has pushed Grand Feu enamel into positions it hasn’t occupied in the Tradition before, and the results are striking.

On the 7037 and 7097, the offset subdial at 12 o’clock carries white Grand Feu enamel, each piece individually fired in a kiln. The organic behaviour of enamel powders during firing means no two dials emerge identically, and Breguet reinforces that individuality with a secret signature embedded into the enamel surface, visible only to the wearer. That detail resonates with me — it transforms an already personal object into something genuinely intimate.

The 7067 GMT goes a significant step further with a green-gradient Grand Feu enamel dial that transitions from pine green at the centre to absolute black at the rim. Achieving that gradient demands precise layering of enamel powders, careful chromatic calibration, and kiln temperature control to the exact degree and minute. Critically, the Tradition’s offset dial sits largely exposed rather than recessed within the case, so any firing imperfection is immediately visible. The enamellers carry real accountability here, and the result is arresting.

The 7038 takes a different direction with a black aventurine glass dial enhanced by silver-toned powdered transfers. Aventurine is a synthetic glass containing suspended copper crystals that produce visual depth and a faint inner sparkle, and this is its first appearance in the Tradition line. Furthermore, all four models adopt Arabic numerals in the Breguet typeface, a design Abraham-Louis Breguet created in 1783, which noticeably improves legibility alongside its historical resonance.

The Movements

The core calibre architecture of the Tradition, with the central barrel and inverted gear train arrangement, remains unchanged. What Breguet has done is apply an entirely new finishing language to this familiar structure, and the 2026 variants represent the most ambitious colour palette the collection has yet seen.

The 7037 receives an entirely blue treatment through ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition), a vacuum-based surface process that deposits a coating measured in nanometres onto the metal, producing a deep, saturated blue without concealing the underlying finish texture. The mainplate undergoes fine shotblasting, the bridges receive straight satin-brushing, and the barrel cover takes a hand-guilloché snailed pattern, adding tactile contrast to the treated surfaces. All components are hand-finished.

The 7067 GMT instead uses black PVD-coated bridges and mainplate on Calibre 507 DRF, manually wound, with 274 components managing the dual-time display and day/night indicator within 12.1 mm of total thickness. The 7038’s bridges take a deep black shotblasted finish, and both its barrel cover and half-crown oscillating weight carry sunburst guilloché, creating a coherent decorative dialogue between the two sides of the watch. The 7097 introduces a new charcoal grey barrel cover, and the contrast it builds against the white enamel dial is visually powerful: immaculate white, then a large charcoal mass, then the rose-gilt gear train beyond it.

All automatic variants run Calibre 505 SR or SR1 at 3 Hz with a 50-hour power reserve. The oscillating weight is formed in 950 platinum, the same high-density material Abraham-Louis Breguet used on his perpétuelles in the 1780s. Each calibre also carries a silicon balance-spring for improved isochronism and magnetism resistance.

The Cases

Case architecture stays consistent with the Tradition’s established identity: fluted casebands, welded lugs, and double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystals across the board. Sizes range from 37 mm on the 7038 to 40 mm on the 7067 and 7097, with the 7037 sitting at 38 mm. The 7038 uses rhodium-plated 18k white gold with a bezel set in 58 brilliant-cut diamonds; the 7067 and one 7037 variant each use 950 platinum; the 7097 opts for 18k rose gold. All models ship with interchangeable straps, including rubber options that mark a first for several references in the collection.

Pricing and the Bigger Picture

Breguet has priced these ambitiously. The 7097 opens at US$57,100, the white gold 7037 at US$59,700, the platinum 7037 at US$65,700, the 7038 at US$66,800, and the platinum 7067 GMT at US$82,900 — that last figure sitting 44 per cent above its functionally equivalent white gold predecessor. That gap is notable, and collectors will draw their own conclusions. What I can say is that the finishing ambition here is real: ALD treatment, individually fired Grand Feu enamel, hand-guilloché barrel covers, and a platinum oscillating weight on every automatic model represent genuine craft investment. For anyone new to the collection and looking for an entry point, the 7097 in rose gold makes the strongest case at its price level: white Grand Feu enamel, charcoal barrel cover, and the full visual drama of Breguet’s inverted calibre, in one coherent, historically anchored package.
