Beda’a introduces diamonds to its successful Angles Mecaline collection with a limited production model that pairs 1.1 carats of precious stones with the manually wound ETA 7001 calibre. This Swiss-made timepiece represents the brand’s first venture into gem-set mechanical watchmaking, limited to just a few pieces per quarter at approximately 4,150 CHF excluding VAT.

The Dials
Beda’a offers the Diamond Edition in two dial configurations: Deep Black and Warm Grey. Both feature glossy lacquered surfaces that reject any form of hour markers, embracing pure minimalism. The dial architecture centres on a small seconds subdial positioned at 6 o’clock, executed in sector style with either semi-matte sunray or circular finishing depending on the variant . This textural contrast against the polished main dial creates visual depth without cluttering the display. Dauphine-style hands sweep across the surface, their angular profiles echoing the octagonal case geometry .

The Movement – ETA 7001
The ETA 7001 lives inside this case, a hand-wound calibre measuring 23.3mm in diameter and 2.5mm in thickness. This movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz frequency) through 17 jewels, delivering approximately 42 hours of power reserve . The calibre features a Swiss lever escapement with Incabloc shock protection, whilst employing a Glucydur balance wheel paired with an Anachron hairspring. ETA constructs the mainplates and bridges from brass with bevelled edges, whilst a Nivaflex barrel spring stores the energy. The technical sheets specify a middle rate accuracy of +/-7 seconds per day, with this particular variant regulated in three positions. Beda’a selected this calibre for its proven reliability and maintenance accessibility, making long-term ownership straightforward.

Geometry in steel
The 316L stainless steel case measures 37mm x 34mm, with a remarkably slim 6mm thickness. Beda’a achieved this dimension through fifteen months of development, keeping the mechanical version just 0.7mm thicker than its quartz predecessor. The octagonal bezel sits atop an angled case middle with stepped layers, now set with diamonds totalling 1.1 carats across both bezel and lugs. The case architecture combines polished flanks with vertically brushed surfaces, whilst a sapphire crystal protects the dial. A solid steel caseback replaces any exhibition window, contributing to the slim profile. The redesigned crown suits manual winding operation, whilst water resistance reaches 3 ATM (30 metres). Nineteen-millimetre lugs accept stitched alligator leather straps with pin buckles, offered in black or maroon to complement the dial colours.
Final notes
The Angles Mecaline Diamond Edition occupies specific territory: mechanically focused yet wearable daily, precious yet restrained, at 4,150 CHF excluding VAT. Beda’a commits to limited quarterly production, transforming their accessible mechanical watch into something considerably rarer through diamond embellishment. The case proportions work across different wrist sizes, whilst the ETA 7001 ensures serviceability anywhere competent watchmakers practise their craft. This combination of geometric design, proven mechanics, and controlled availability positions the Diamond Edition as a considered alternative to conventional luxury sports watches.
