Beda’a Angles Stone Collection: When Geometry Meets the Earth

Reading Time: 3 minutes

There are brands that talk about doing things differently, and then there are brands that actually do. Beda’a, the Qatar-based independent that turned heads at Geneva Watch Days 2024, belongs firmly in the second camp. Its Angles 37 has already proven it can hold its own in a crowded field of architecturally inspired dress watches. Now, with the Stone Collection launched on 28 February 2026, Beda’a takes that same geometric skeleton and clothes it in something the earth spent millions of years making.

Four Stones, Four Characters

This is where the conversation starts and, frankly, where it stays the longest. Beda’a offers four natural stone options, and each one pulls in a completely different direction.

Blue Aventurine delivers that deep, shot-through-with-light quality that instantly catches the eye, a dense, celestial shimmer that changes character depending on the angle of the light. Malachite goes the opposite route: bold, graphic, its green banding almost aggressive against the octagonal geometry of the case.

African Hawkeye is the understated one, smoky, restrained, with a subtle chatoyance that rewards closer inspection. Tiger Eye rounds out the four with warm, golden-brown tones and a dynamic, almost liquid movement of light across the surface.

Critically, because every dial is cut directly from natural stone, no two watches are identical. That is not marketing language, it is the physical reality of working with organic material.

The Movement: Ronda 1062.1 Slimtech

The choice of movement here is entirely intentional and technically coherent. Beda’a specifies the Ronda 1062.1 Slimtech, a 6¾ x 8-ligne Swiss quartz calibre with a movement height of just 1.90 mm. It runs on a 321-type cell, draws roughly 0.29 μA in typical operation, and delivers a battery life of around six years. The Swiss Made version carries four jewels with a gold-plated finish, and the movement offers complete interchangeability with the Ronda 1064 where needed.

Some will object that this is “just quartz.” They are missing the point. The Slimtech is the reason the Angles 37 sits at 5.6 mm on the wrist, a dimension that a stone dial, by its nature, could only threaten. Fitting a mechanical calibre here without compromising that thickness would have required exactly the 15-month engineering exercise Beda’a went through for its Mecaline variant. For the Stone Collection, the thin profile is non-negotiable, and the Ronda delivers it.

The Case: Architecture in Steel

The case is a 37 x 37 mm square in 316L stainless steel, distinguished by its signature octagonal stepped bezel finished with alternating brushed and polished surfaces. That stepped architecture is not decorative padding, it creates visual depth, catches light from multiple planes, and gives the watch a presence on the wrist that punches well above its 5.6 mm profile. A matching stainless steel buckle completes the hardware, paired with a stitched Togo calfskin leather strap, a genuinely premium choice at this price point. Water resistance sits at 3 ATM, and a sapphire crystal protects the dial.

A Purposeful Collection at a Serious Price

What strikes me most about the Stone Collection is its discipline. Beda’a did not reinvent the Angles, it deepened it. The geometry stays intact, the thinness stays intact, and what changes is the one element that can make a watch truly personal: the dial. Geometry meets nature here, and the result is four watches that each wear differently, read differently, and feel different in the hand.

At 700 CHF (3,300 QAR), this sits in a space where the competition either offers less finishing or no soul whatsoever. For a brand still building its international story, the Stone Collection is a confident, coherent step forward and one worth getting on your wrist before the limited production runs out.
