Glashütte Original introduced its Serenade Luna collection in 2024, and the Saxon manufactory has returned in March 2026 with a variation that genuinely elevates the line. The Serenade Luna “Skyline Blue” combines a technically ambitious dial treatment with one of the most precise moon phase calibres in its class, all inside a 32.5 mm stainless steel case designed for real, everyday wear.

The Dial

The dial forms the centrepiece of this watch, and Glashütte Original has engineered it with notable ingenuity. The ultra-thin mother-of-pearl base receives several layers of dark-coloured lacquer on its reverse, producing a chromatic shift from silvery, light blue in direct light to a deep, dramatic smoky blue as the viewing angle changes. Twenty brilliant-cut diamond hour appliqués, set by hand in white gold, stand against that shifting surface with clarity and precision.

At 6 o’clock, the moon phase display uses two discs in white and blue mother-of-pearl, surrounded by printed silver stars. Crucially, Glashütte Original achieves moon phase accuracy to within one day in 122 years, placing this complication well above typical haute horlogerie fare. Four circles of blue lacquer on the reverse of the moon disc add visual depth, and the display cutout edging, together with the hands and the diamond index settings, uses solid white gold for a perfectly cohesive result.

The Movement

The calibre 35-14 powers the Serenade Luna from within. Glashütte Original developed this automatic movement specifically for the 32.5 mm case, keeping it at just 3.8 mm in thickness, and it delivers a 60-hour power reserve at 28,800 beats per hour across 32 jewels. The silicon balance spring resists magnetic fields and temperature variation without any additional anti-magnetic shielding.

Through the sapphire crystal caseback, the finishing reveals considerable depth: the three-quarter plate carries the signature Glashütte stripe decoration, the reduction wheel receives a sunburst finish, and the oscillation weight’s track features perlage. For the first time in this collection, the rotor plate uses solid gold with a fine shell-pattern guilloché. Polished and blued screws complete the picture, making this calibre a full and coherent expression of German high-watchmaking tradition.

The Case

The stainless steel case measures 32.5 mm in diameter, 8.9 mm in height, and 38.12 mm lug-to-lug; proportions that work comfortably across a wide range of wrist sizes. The bezel carries 48 brilliant-cut diamonds, and a rose-cut diamond crowns the winding crown itself, a thoughtful detail that rewards close inspection. Water resistance reaches 3 bar, placing this watch squarely in daily wear territory. Glashütte Original offers two configurations: a stainless steel bracelet with double fold fastener, or a Louisiana Alligator leather strap. The steel bracelet’s architectural line work reinforces the urban aesthetic of the dial.

Conclusion

Day in, day out, the Serenade Luna “Skyline Blue” has to justify its positioning. It does. The chromatic dial technology, the moon phase precision, and the depth of calibre finishing all belong to a higher horological conversation. Furthermore, the 48-diamond bezel and 20-diamond hour markers sit alongside a restrained, architectural colour palette rather than competing with it, a balance that is genuinely difficult to execute at this price level. The watch is available from March 2026 at EUR 16,100 on the steel bracelet and EUR 14,900 on the alligator leather strap. For anyone exploring serious women’s watchmaking right now, the Serenade Luna “Skyline Blue” sets a compelling benchmark. Anything, it seems, is indeed possible.
