De Bethune has a special place in my heart: I love all their watches with no exception. For today I have in mind one of my all time favourite complication – the jumping hour and in particular the DB28 Digitale from De Bethune.
Information about this timepiece can be found on their website: http://www.debethune.ch/collections-db28dig.htm, but what I really like about this watch is the extraordinary articulated case which is made from a mirror polished grade 5 Titanium.
The hand guilloche of the silver-toned dial is gorgeous, the moonphase indication is found in the middle of the dial and surrounded by a blued and polished titanium ring with white gold elements. The same treatment is also applied to the peripheral segment from 9 to 3 o’clock.
On the back side, under a sapphire crystal (1800 Vickers hardness) with double anti-reflective treatment, is visible the 5 days power reserve caliber DB2144 (aperture-type jumping hours – rotating-disc analogue minutes display – spherical moon-phase indication at the centre). Another gimmick is the spherical moon-phase indication with an accuracy of one lunar day every 1,112 years.
