Not long ago, in May 2019, Glashütte Original presented a new version of its successful PanoMaticLunar with a dark blue dial and red gold case. The German watchmaker has now followed up with a new, multifaceted addition to the Pano Collection, which is very popular among connoisseurs of fine mechanical watches. The new model, Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar rose opaline, presented in a limited edition of 50 pieces, features a striking, elaborately crafted dial in an unusually sensual rose opaline hue that casts a magical, irresistible spell on the viewer.
High-contrast play of colours
The new Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar rose opaline presents a special play of two distinct colours: the applied hour markers, exquisite moon phase display and sword-shaped hands set blue accents and blend easily into the warm, soft hue of the dial. The characteristic Panorama Date, too, with its white numerals on blue discs, takes up the rich blue hue and stands in harmonious contrast to the rose opaline dial. This special colour is the result of a special galvanization procedure performed the watchmaker’s in-house dial manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany. The process involves placing the dial for a precisely specified length of time in a galvanic bath under a constant electrical charge in order to achieve the desired soft hue.
As is the case with all models in the Pano Collection, this new limited edition presents a convincing, unmistakable design. The dial, with its characteristic off-centre displays, is framed by a polished and satin-brushed stainless steel case. The auxiliary dials for hours and minutes and the small seconds dial are aligned along a vertical axis within the left half of the dial, while the Panorama Date is positioned to the right at 4 o’clock.
The heart of the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar rose opaline is the Calibre 90-02 automatic movement. The sapphire glass case back offers a clear view of the finely finished mechanism with its traditional elements of Glashütte watchmaking art. The new timepiece is fitted with a matching dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap with pin buckle or fold fastener, and is available worldwide from all Glashütte Original Boutiques.
