On the 26th and 27th of July 2024, the first Concours of Elegance Germany brought together numerous automobile enthusiasts at the historic Gut Kaltenbrunn estate on Lake Tegernsee. 50 of the world’s rarest and most valuable classic cars, complemented by displays of another 150 exhibits from specialist Concours and car clubs, were presented by their proud owners against a picturesque Alpine backdrop.

The technical excellence and the elegant mechanics displayed in the historic vehicles on the exclusive starting field provided A. Lange & Söhne a worthy platform for the presentation of its timepieces, which are manufactured to the same standards of perfection. Like the pioneering masterpieces on wheels, they stand for the art of engineering and the pursuit of innovative technical solutions.

The highlight of the competition was the ceremonial presentation of the “Best of Show” award on Friday, where a certificate with a hand-engraved balance cock made of gold-plated German silver was presented to the owner of a Lancia Astura Pinin Farina Cabriolet by Peter Justenhoven, Director Europe at A. Lange & Söhne. Justenhoven also honoured the winner of the “Thirty Under 30” category for her BMW Isetta on Saturday.

As a German manufacture, it was an honour for us to be able to contribute to the new edition of this top-class British event taking place in our home country for the first time. We took this special opportunity to exchange ideas with ambitious collectors from all over the world,” emphasises Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid. “Precision, craftsmanship and timeless beauty – this interplay, which also characterises our timepieces, made the event a unique experience.

About A. Lange & Söhne
Dresden watchmaker Ferdinand Adolph Lange laid the foundations for Saxony’s precision watchmaking industry when he established his manufactory in 1845. His precious pocket watches remain highly coveted among collectors all over the world. The company was expropriated after World War II, and the name A. Lange & Söhne nearly vanished. In 1990, Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s great-grandson, Walter Lange, had the courage to relaunch the brand. Today, Lange crafts only a few thousand wristwatches per year, predominantly in gold or platinum. They are equipped exclusively with movements made in-house that are elaborately finished and twice assembled by hand. With 72 manufacture calibres developed since 1990, A. Lange & Söhne has secured a top-tier position in the world of watchmaking. Some of the company’s greatest successes include the LANGE 1 with the first outsize date in a regularly produced wristwatch and the ZEITWERK with its precisely jumping numerals display. Exceptional complications such as the ZEITWERK MINUTE REPEATER, the TRIPLE SPLIT, and the most complicated model to date, the GRAND COMPLICATION presented in 2013 in a limited edition of six watches, represent what the manufactory always strives for: to drive the traditional art of watchmaking to ever-new heights. Launched in 2019, the sporty-elegant ODYSSEUS marks the beginning of a new chapter for A. Lange & Söhne.
