Modern life is fast-paced and multi-faceted, especially in the frenzy of our busiest cities. It calls for swift transitions between work, social and cultural engagements, between dynamic activities and formal occasions, between street life and more upscale encounters. The Manero Central Counter from Carl F. Bucherer is designed for all these moments, day or night. Its robust aesthetic is balanced with subtle, natural colours to give it a chameleon-like appeal capable of reflecting any moment that you find yourself in. In addition, Carl F. Bucherer is simultaneously launching two special editions of this alluring timepiece, created in tribute to Nico Hischier, the Swiss-born captain of the New Jersey Devils ice hockey team in the United States – and a CFB brand ambassador.
At first sight, the Manero Central Counter suggests an athletic character, with its carbon-coated bezel, black sub-dials that display its chronograph functionality and a black, hybrid rubber strap – all offsetting a stainless-steel case. This aesthetic would look perfectly at home during those more active city moments – whether you’re at the gym or walking to your next meeting. It’s also up to the task whenever you need it, with white-on-black tachymeter numbering and Super-Luminova-filled index marks for at-a-glance accuracy as the light dims.
Function Meets Style
On closer inspection, however, this is far more than a watch for physicality. The detail on the finishes, the colours and the understated design give it a carefully considered boldness and sophistication. The four natural colourways of the dial (available in blue, salmon, brown and green), along with a sunray-brushed finish that scatters the light, allow the timepiece to flex beyond leisure wear into other creative, dressy or fashionable situations. It’s ideal for a work meeting, to accompany you to dinner or to be your plus-one at the cinema.
Even its size, with a 41-millimetre diameter, is just right – big enough for when you are midmatch, yet circumspect enough to act as a beautiful accessory. The ‘brushed’ finish of its rubber strap adds additional detail and texture to heighten the sense of quality further.
Limited Editions for Nico Hischier
In addition, Carl F. Bucherer is simultaneously launching two special editions of this alluring timepiece, created in tribute to Nico Hischier, the Swiss-born captain of the New Jersey Devils ice hockey team in the United States – and a CFB brand ambassador.
The first, the CFB Manero Central Counter Limited Edition, is being made to just 99 pieces representing Nico’s birth year of 1999. It features a black, circle-brushed dial, silver sub-dials and stand-out red detailing – referencing the emblematic colour of both of Nico’s home canton, Valais, and Switzerland itself. The second, a watch that represents his treasured jersey number, The Manero Central Counter Nico Hischier Edition, is limited to just 13 pieces. Following the same colourways, it also features an emblematic number 13, in red, at the 1 0’clock position on the dial, and a special ’13’ engraving on the case back (all a reference to 13 being Nico’s lucky number).
Power, Precision and Poise
Nico, in himself, fully embodies and embraces the ethos of modern life in the city. The Swiss-born athlete, who has a tremendous appreciation for the great outdoors, now lives a fast-paced life in North America, where he shows off his extraordinary sporting skills and his cosmopolitan spirit in a different North American metropolis every week. These two limited edition timepieces are similarly capable of accompanying him to every item on his daily schedule – from going to the ice rink or the airport to lunch with teammates, coaches and business partners, as well as to other formal or social events as captain and representative of the New Jersey Devils.
Beneath the surface of all these watches is a CFB 1967 calibre movement with 47 jewels and a power reserve of up to 44 hours, combining the utmost precision with a sense of endurance. It can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. The centrally mounted oscillating weight of its automatic winding system features a design inspired by CFB‘s energy star logo, equipped with cut-throughs to facilitate viewing the movement.
A Story of Perfect Harmony
Above all, the Manero Central Counter represents a carefully considered harmony of form and function, one that tells a story which also reflects the qualities of the wearer – dynamic, energetic and adaptable, not to mention poised, thoughtful and creative. Put it on in the morning and it will see you through to the evening, never looking out of place regardless of the challenges that everyday life may present.
