Reading Time: 2 minutes

Synonymous with Joie de Vivre since its creation in 1976, the Happy Diamonds collection welcomes a new watch inspired by one of the Maison’s historic variations: a creation on which 15 dancing diamonds swirl around the dial in a playful game of hide-and-seek, at times hidden beneath a mother-of-pearl gallery, and at others cascading across the lower part of watch. Combining the sparkle of diamonds with the shimmer of Tahitian mother-of-pearl, the Happy Diamonds Joaillerie timepiece shines with responsible radiance thanks to the use of ethical 18-carat rose gold.

At the centre of this watch crafted in ethical 18-carat rose gold and adorned with diamonds and Tahitian grey mother-of-pearl with iridescent rainbow reflections, an inner round dial indicates the time by means of voluptuous leaf-shaped hands. It is surrounded by an outer dial providing a playground for 15 dancing diamonds.

Nonetheless, the true feat of ingenuity embodied in this Chopard Happy Diamonds Joaillerie watch lies in a gallery placed between 9 and 3 o’clock where these daring diamonds can temporarily remain hidden from sight. When they emerge from this secret passage, they cascade down the dial, playing an endless game of hide-and-seek with entranced observers. These dancing gems coexist in two different sizes thus emphasising the random nature of this sparkling waterfall.

Further diamonds also catch the light on the outer bezel thanks to a particularly ethereal prong setting, making this jewellery watch a truly dazzling creation.

Measuring 38 millimetres in diameter, the Happy Diamonds Joaillerie is presented on a grey brushed canvas strap, matching the colour of the Tahitian mother-of-pearl and fitted with a diamond-set rose gold buckle.

The cascade that inspired Happy Diamonds

In 1976, the workshops of the Maison were bursting with energy. Drawing on nature as an endless source of inspiration, they imagined diamonds that would reproduce the beauty of a cascade. The ‘Happy Diamonds’ concept was born, directly evoking the sparkling drops of a waterfall. Happier because they are free, these little diamonds achieved worldwide fame acclaimed by the Golden Rose of Baden-Baden, one of the jewellery world’s most prestigious distinctions. Since then, they have whirled their way through the years, perpetually transformed and shaping a unique legend.

Nonetheless, the heart of this ingenious concept is undoubtedly the woman wearing the Happy Diamonds Joaillerie watch and whom the engineers of the Maison sought to make the star of this enchanting show. Guided by her every move and bursting forth in the same cascading momentum, the feather-light dancing diamonds almost defy the laws of gravity in expressing their timeless Joie de Vivre.
