Sarpaneva Daredevil

Daredevil Dusk and Dawn by Sarpaneva

Reading Time: 2 minutes
Dusk and Dawn are the times when the superheroes and the villains make their appearance. In this case, our hero is the Daredevil: that turns into a beast at dusk only to transform into a beauty at dawn.
The Daredevil watch collection from Sarpaneva watches doesn’t refer to the fantastic heroes from Marvel but to us as heroes  – our inner heroes, prepared to do extraordinary things.
These two extraordinary watches are Daredevil Dusk and Daredevil Dawn and ensure that “the glow must go on” continuing the succes of the luminous Northern Lights. Respecting the precedessors, the Daredevil’s dial is an utterly cool appeareance in the dark.
The Daredevil has a frost finished stainless steel case, 46 mm in diameter, 11.2 mm in thickness with a huge 2.5 mm sapphire crystal with multi anti-reflective coating. The case has a double secured, water-resistant screw-down crown and it has a water-resistance up to 20 ATM. And by the way, the crown is gorgeous.
The case shape has a story: “Twenty years ago, it started with a kick. A young watchmaker stood beside his stone dead motorcycle with a kick-start pinion in his hand. The bike refused to start but he refused to give up. He never gave up. That kick-start pinion was given a new lease of life as the very first Sarpaneva watch.” – Sarpaneva Daredevil Website.
The beautiful dial of the Deradevil Dawn is comprised from two-part brushed stainless steel skeleton DLC blue dial. The dial has a three-part Super-LumiNova® base plate, Super-LumiNova® indexes, powered by RC Tritec AG’s LumiCast. I also like the four screws that keep the dial in place, positioned at 1:30, 4:30, 7:30 and 10:30 o’clock.
The hour and minute’s hands are red gold plated, polished, and matt blasted and the second’s hand is thermally blued steel.
The Daredevil Dusk has a dial with brushed skeleton black DLC steel and a different colour combination of the Super-LumiNova®.
Inside the Daredevil watch is a modified Soprod caliber A10: automatic self-winding 11.5 lines (25.6 mm),  25 jewels, with a heart beating with 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and 42 hours power reserve. The movement is Rhodium-plated, and has a perlage finish. The rotor weight is Rhodium-plated with Geneva stripes. More information about this movement can be read on Watchbase.com.
The case-back features the signature stainless steel moon face relief: it honours the art of the traditional vintage pocket watch. The Daredevil watch comes with a black (Dusk), white (Dawn) calf leather strap and stainless steel buckle.
The Daredevil watch costs 9500 euro without taxes, is limited to 20 pieces and can be seen and bought directly from the Sarpaneva Workshop or one of the Retailers.

I would like to thank Mr. Sarpaneva for the pictures and information.
