Boutique Swiss watchmaker Edox introduces a new model to its SkyDiver collection, the SkyDiver Bronze Date Automatic, the modern sports watch family that honours a generation of classic timepieces. The original SkyDiver was a military-themed wristwatch made in the 1960s and 1970s when Edox was part of a group of Swiss watchmakers, before the brand forged its own path.

The 21st-century SkyDiver is now a mainstay of the Edox watch family and presents the best of both worlds – a classic design with a thoroughly modern twist. Now Edox introduces a new SkyDiver with a unique ‘flavour’ – the rose-tinted bronze case Bronze Date Automatic.

The rose-coloured hues of the bronze case are beautifully complemented by an elegant slate grey/blue dial. The Edox SkyDiver Bronze Date Automatic oozes a classic vintage dress watch vibe, but it is still built tough – just like the rugged, original military-themed SkyDiver.

Large, Super-LumiNova-coated indices and hands hark back to the no-nonsense, easy-to-read, dial displays of military watches, while the outer ceramic scratch-resistant bezel also provides a practical tool for divers up to 30 ATM.

Under the hood, beats an Edox Calibre 80 automatic movement, made by Swiss specialist Sellita. You can wear the SkyDiver Bronze Date Automatic as is (with brown leather strap) or easily switch this for a black leather strap, which is provided in a leather pouch. Eye-catchingly elegant and engineered for the toughest environments, the Edox SkyDiver Bronze Date Automatic is the perfect watch for anytime, anywhere.

Rumoured to be launched following a Swiss colonel secret request in the 1960s, the new SkyDiver collection pays tribute to paratroopers and the extreme conditions they might face – on land, air or sea. Displaying a vintage military look, the SkyDiver is a reliable timepiece protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and a stainless steel case. Water-resistant up to 30ATM / 300m, the SkyDiver will remain readable at such depth thanks to a high standard of night visibility on watches – Super-LumiNova – which covers its hands and indexes. Whether its origin is fact or fantastic, the SkyDiver is a truly hand-assembled timepiece ready to face real adventures.

Like time itself, Swiss boutique watchmaker Edox never stands still. Founder Christian Ruefli-Flury was driven by his heart when, in 1884, he made a pocket watch for his beloved wife Pauline’s 25th birthday. Delighted, she convinced him to set up his own company – Edox.
Over the decades Edox has forged a reputation as the ‘‘water champion’’ of the watch world, creating world-leading divers’ watches. Ruefli-Flury would no doubt be amazed and honoured how his legacy has flourished over the past 135 years.
One of the few remaining family-owned Swiss watchmakers, Edox proudly acknowledges its heritage but also embraces innovation and imagination in its collections. Today, Edox is known for its highly water-resistant timepieces, complex hand-polished watch cases and traditional hand assembling.
Edox. A company shaped over time. A company shaping time.
