The pursuit of better value for consumers remains at the heart of Frederique Constant’s vision. In 2019, Frederique Constant introduced new mechanical excellence to its collection with its first in-house Perpetual Calendar, the FC-775 calibre: the Frederique Constant Slimline Perpetual Calendar Manufacture.
A major goal was to make a watch at a contemporary size with the sub-dials placed at an ideal distance from the center of the watch to maintain the overall visual harmony of the dial design.
These two new additions highlight a grey dial with sunray decoration and applied indexes featuring Perlage and circular Côtes de Genève decoration on the movement, all in a refined polished stainless steel, or rose gold-plated polished stainless case.
As a Perpetual Calendar, this timepiece not only indicates the lunar cycles but also the minutes, hours, date, day, month and year in four digits; each placed strategically to offer an aesthetically pleasant and easy-to-read dial. The date is indicated at 3 o’clock, the day of the week at 9 o’clock, the month at 12 o’clock as well as the leap year, in a sub-dial at 6 o’clock.
Every single complication can be easily adjusted via the correctors. Once adjusted, this highly sophisticated mechanism will take into account the months with 30 and 31 days, the 28 days of February and also the leap year cycle with the return of 29 of February every four years. Normally, this watch shouldn’t require any manual correction before 400 years, but as there is an exception in the Gregorian Calendar, the watch will need to be adjusted on March 1st 2100.
The Frederique Constant Slimline Perpetual Calendar Manufacture offers a clear reading, featuring the month, date, day of the week and year, as well hours, minutes, leap year and a moon phase indicator.
About Frederique Constant
Frederique Constant is an established Swiss watch manufacturer based in Geneva, Switzerland, involved in all stages of watch production, from initial design, in-house development to final assembly and quality control. The brand produces up to 29 in-house calibers, thanks to the expansion of its production capacity launched during the first half of 2019.
The founders and couple Peter and Aletta Stas started the company back in 1988 with the vision of creating high-quality mechanical Swiss watches with a more accessible price-tag that would allow a larger number of people to enjoy luxury.
Frederique Constant was a pioneer in watchmaking by introducing the first Horological Smartwatch in 2015, powered by MMT SwissConnect technology and entirely displayed with an analog dial, thereby creating an entirely new watch category in the Swiss watch industry.
In 2018, the brand launched a brand-new smartwatch generation, the Hybrid Manufacture, that combined mechanical horology with an ultra-tech smart module and an integrated caliber analytics, thus breaking the rules of traditional watchmaking.
In 2016, Frederique Constant was integrated into the Japanese Citizen Group; the company saw this Swiss-Japanese partnership as an opportunity to develop and market accessible luxury watches for the 21st century and beyond.
