Barely a year since the 4th generation of Frederique Constant connected watches launched, the Smartwatch Vitality collection is expanding to include several new versions for men. Frederique Constant Smartwatch Gents Vitality – four variations with real personality demonstrate the impressive versatility of the original design.
In June 2020, Frederique Constant continued to move forward with its connected watches – a development that the watchmaker began back in 2015, by becoming the first Geneva-based manufacturer of mechanical watches to embrace Swiss Made smartwatches. This sustained commitment has seen the number of offerings multiply (Horological Smartwatch “Classics”, “Notify”, Classic Hybrid Manufacture), still based on connected modules designed and assembled in Switzerland.
The fourth-generation Smartwatch Vitality builds on these developments. On top of their demonstrable technological know-how, these iconic models from the Maison have a new look, facilitated by a very special dial. Tap on the crown to reveal a digital display at the bottom, providing access to a wealth of information, as predefined in the Frederique Constant Smartwatch app.
One colour
The four new men’s models measure 42 mm in diameter, just like the piece to which this design owes its original success. The first two are as bold as they are modern. Both are one colour only, either all black or all grey. Timepieces rooted in the 21st century, their steel cases have been coated with a PVD titanium treatment.
The first fully black design has a very stealthy, powerful, uncompromising look, bolstered by a matching black strap, complete with pin buckle in the same tone. This thoroughly modern piece reveals the details of the digital screen on demand, the contrast between the white on black making it easy to read.
The second monochrome model does the same in grey. Understated and elegant, not to mention highly contemporary, this version is more sensitive to the light than its alter ego in black. It reveals more reflections, shadows and contrasts. At the end of a sunbeam, every applique hour marker stands out from the dial and the polished hands appear to hover over the sunray-brushed dial, thanks to a subtle interplay of colour.
Back to basics with gold and steel
The other two versions of the Smartwatch Gents Vitality build upon the legacy left by their predecessors. The latter laid down the fundamentals of the line, ever faithful to Frederique Constant; every inch the luxury watchmaker, thanks to the high level finish and beautiful traditional watchmaking aesthetic at competitive prices.
In response to demand from keen collectors of gold and steel watches, Frederique Constant has created two new versions of the Smartwatch Gents Vitality, each taking a unique approach. The first features a warm and delicate pink gold plated case. This has been combined with a black dial, bridging tradition and modernity. Rose gold plated luminescent hands and bevelled applique hour markers complete the sporty-chic feel of this watch, which is finished like all these new models with a textured rubber strap. All… bar one.
The last version is specifically aimed at fans of the steel strap. This version with the steel case is particularly intricate, comprised of five articulated links with alternating polished and satin-brushed finishes. It’s also the only strap on the new versions to come with a folding buckle. While the design currently in the collection has a bright blue dial, the new Smartwatch Gents Vitality features an edgy chocolate sunray-brushed dial.
The latest technology
At the forefront of connected technology, the module embedded in the Smartwatch Gents Vitality makes it possible to show a very wide range of variables, relating not only to the individual, but also the immediate environment of each user.
To start with, the personal activity tracker shows heart rate (at rest or in workout mode), any notifications associated with an abnormal rhythm, smart alarm, “Get-active Alert” to encourage you to get you moving again after a prolonged period of inactivity, activity tracker (step count, calories burned, distance covered), Dynamic coach (personalised guidance to help you stay in shape, based on tracking your activity, sleep and goals), or the “Breathing exercise” function, which includes a series of breathing exercises to reduce stress and regulate your breathing.
In terms of external monitoring, the Smartwatch Gents Vitality shows the weather, a second time zone, automatic time and date synchronisation, as well as notifications of calls and messages (e.g.: Mail, Messages, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, WeChat, Viber, Uber, KakaoTalk, Pinterest, Spotify).
Rechargeable and surpassing the standards of existing smartwatches, the Smartwatch Gents Vitality can offer up to 11 days’ autonomy, depending on usage.

About Frederique Constant
Frederique Constant is a Swiss watchmaking manufacture located in Geneva, Switzerland. The Maison was founded in 1988 by a couple of independent entrepreneurs, Aletta and Peter Stas, to offer quality Swiss watches at an affordable price, with the aim of democratising luxury Swiss Made watches.
Frederique Constant creates, develops, assembles and controls a wide variety of mechanical, quartz and connected timepieces at the same time within its 6,200 m2 Manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates (GE). To this day, Frederique Constant has designed 30 Manufacture calibres, including high complications, such as the Tourbillon, the Perpetual Calendar, the Flyback Chronograph, as well as a new and unprecedented type of escapement in watchmaking – the Monolithic. Made from a single piece of silicone, replacing the 26 components of a standard assortment, it oscillates at a frequency of 40 Hz, which is 10 times that of most mechanical movements.
In 2015, Frederique Constant launched the Horological Smartwatch, the first Swiss Made connected timepiece featuring a traditional appearance. In 2018, the Classic Hybrid Manufacture succeeded it, combining a mechanical Manufacture movement with connected features. It was followed by the Smartwatch Vitality line in 2020, equipped with a new generation built-in heart rate sensor.
The same year, Frederique Constant reinvigorated the Highlife collection (1999) with a redesigned case and an interchangeable integrated strap. This was followed in 2021 by the Slimline Monolithic Manufacture with its very high-frequency one-piece escapement, then by the Highlife collection for women.
Frederique Constant is currently present in nearly 3,000 points of sale in 120 countries across the world. In 2016, the Frederique Constant group (Frederique Constant, Alpina Watches, Ateliers deMonaco) joined the Japanese group Citizen, so as to pursue its international development and nurture new synergies.
