The Foundation of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève is opening registration for its 19th edition and unveiling the composition of its jury as well as new prizes.

The independent and international jury of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, uniting the expertise of some 30 leading lights from various fields of competence, is partially renewed each year. Responsible for saluting – through two rounds of voting and 19 prizes – the excellence of contemporary watch creations presented in official competition as part of this 19th edition, the 2019 jury notably includes the following new members: Jasem Al Zeraei (influencer, collector / Kuwait), Aldis Hodge (actor, watch designer / USA), Pierre Salanitro (CEO of Salanitro / Switzerland), Jiaxian Xu (collector and founder of / Singapore), Jessica Yu (founder of Hantang Culture / China) and Pascal Raffy, owner of Bovet, winner of the 2018 “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix.

In addition, new prizes are joining to the 2019 prize list. The Iconic Watch Prize will be awarded this year to the best watch from an emblematic collection that has been exercising a lasting influence on watchmaking history and the watch market for more than 25 years. The Diver’s Watch Prize will honour a watch linked to this underwater world. The 2019 list is also once again welcoming the Calendar and Astronomy Watch Prize, as well as the “Horological Revelation” Prize, which will enable the jury to honour the achievements of a young brand. As GPHG Director Carine Maillard pointed out: “The mission of the GPHG is to acknowledge the vitality and creativity of the watchmaking art in all its diversity. We adapt the prize list each year based on trends especially observed at the main watch shows”.

To participate in this edition, watch brands are invited to submit their entries by June 21, 2019. The competition is open to all watch brands, Swiss and international. The list of watches pre-selected by the jury will be announced on September 2, while the list of prize-winners will be disclosed on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the 19th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève Awards Ceremony, to be held at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva.
