Grand Seiko introduces a new timepiece with a compact and minimalist design featuring a 34mm case diameter, complementing the popular 41mm case version introduced in 2019 – Grand Seiko “Skyflake” SBGX353 Elegance Collection.

This elegant quartz watch features a sleek design with a clean and simple dial which has a quiet and serene beauty that somehow feels uniquely Japanese.

The distinctive blue dial of this new “Skyflake” model is adorned with a delicate pattern that captures the charm of the blue hues of the sky reflected in the snow falling around the Shinshu Watch Studio in the mountains of central Japan where this watch is created.

A quartz movement depends on a battery as a power source. The battery sends electricity to a quartz oscillator, which vibrates at precisely 32,768 times per second. An integrated circuit (IC) detects these vibrations and sends out an accurate time signal every second to the step motor. The step motor activates in accordance with this time signal, accurately rotating a series of gears and the watch hands.

Its advanced 9F quartz calibre delivers a high precision rate of 10 seconds per year. The long minute and seconds hands reach right to the minute track to ensure that the time can be read exactly. The indexes are five-faceted and diamond-cut so that they stand out clearly from the dial and the 12 o’clock marker is distinct in design so that, whatever the viewing angle, the time is easily read at a glance. Durability is assured by the 3-bar water resistance, the screw case back and the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.

The “Skyflake” SBGX353 timepiece is an addition to the Elegance collection and will be available at Grand Seiko Boutiques and selected authorized retailers worldwide from December 2022.
