Optimal legibility, extreme precision and absolute reliability: pilot watches have proven to be strong, robust aids and accessories throughout the decades, virtues defined during the pioneering days of aviation. The Laco brand, extremely popular with pilots and watch lovers because of these features, continues this tradition with a new version of its beloved timepieces „Genf“ and „Zürich“.

Four new model variants combine the advantages of the old design with a modern, reduced case diameter and high precision quartz movement. The subtle facelift given to Laco  „Genf“ and „Zürich“ proves that a well thought-out design works well, regardless of the watch size, and the more sophisticated look and feel goes well with a business outfit and casual look.

The diameter was reduced to 40 millimetres and the height to a mere 9 millimetres, rendering the look more modern and elegant. Reducing the case size allows the watches to fit even more snugly onto slim wrists, fitting comfortably under a flying jacket sleeve or shirt sleeve. Just as with all Laco watches, the new models have the same classic attributes and the performance level provided by 80 years of know-how in this area of craftsmanship.

The characteristic design has barely changed during recent years: a round stainless steel case, a black matte dial with distinctive typography and typical marking at the twelve and the brown leather strap with two rivets underline the authentic nature of these historic pilot and observation watches. Greenish luminous material Superluminova C3 ensures optimal legibility of dials, numbers and indices under any light as well as maximum contrast levels.

The dials are protected by sapphire crystal, optionally with an antireflective coating on both sides. High-quality Swiss quartz movements by Ronda guarantee precision measurements. New feature: optional date display at 6 o´clock, for the Laco „Genf“ with the classic type A design (eleven Arabic numerals and triangle at the 12 o´clock position) as well as the Laco „Zürich“ in type B design (outer large minute display and inner hour display).

Passion and tradition

The German watch brand Laco, based in the black forest town Pforzheim, has a corporate history that stretches back to 1925. The „Golden City“ has been the location for this small but long-established manufacturer from the very beginning. This traditional company earned its fame by constructing the legendary 55 mm sized observation watch, as one of only five licensed companies in the 1940s. Around twenty years later, with more than 1200 employees, Laco was counted as one of Germany‘s largest watch manufacturers. Today, the small team places emphasis again on handcraft. It is quality that counts in production, not quantity. The products range from pilot and navy watches, through to elegant chronographs and the purist Classic Line. But all Laco models have one thing in common: the highest quality, outstanding design and functionality in use. In addition to their own online shop, Laco also offers for sale at the factory in Pforzheim. From Monday to Friday, this offers an opportunity to pick up a new watch directly from where experienced watchmakers have manufactured it intricately by hand. https://www.laco.de/en/index
