H. Moser & Cie. launches a unique and highly symbolic piece at Watches & Wonders Shanghai. The watch is devoid of logo, indices, and hands. Its Vantablack® dial features only a mechanical disc reminiscent of the symbol you see when a computer programme is loading, turning constantly to reflect the ceaseless march of time. The hours pass in a kind of permanent reboot, with no reference to the present moment. It is a symbol of the infinite, of the relativity of time and, more importantly, of the headlong rush in which our society is caught, ever more connected, ever more virtual. With the Swiss Alp Watch Infinite Reboot, H. Moser & Cie. poses a fundamental question: in the face of extreme digitalisation and the excesses that threaten us, could it now be time for a complete reboot?
As Aristotle stated: “Man is by nature a social animal”. Now, more than ever, we must seek communion and reconnection. To ourselves, to those close to us, to what matters. 2020 showed us the limits and the dangers of digitilisation.
Drawing on this conviction, H. Moser & Cie. has created a unique piece to be launched at Watches & Wonders in Shanghai from the 14th to 18th April. This symbolic piece is devoid of hands. It indicates not the time, but rather its inexorable passage, tracked by the rotation of the offset small second at 6 o’clock and displayed on a shaded disc glimpsed through the openings.
It serves as a reminder that all that matters is the here and now, that life is short and that we must make the most of it, even if that means completely rebooting our habits.
For this model, H. Moser & Cie. has combined different elements that have contributed to its success over the past few years. With an aesthetic inspired by smartwatches, it features a traditional hand-wound Manufacture movement and a Vantablack® dial in its Concept version, with no logo or indices.
Known as the blackest material ever artificially produced, Vantablack® celebrates restraint and minimalism with an ultracontemporary, refined and timeless slant. The contrast between aesthetic simplicity, watchmaking tradition and the complexity of the chosen materials is truly arresting.
Through its steel case with black DLC coating, the Swiss Alp Watch Infinite Reboot radiates all the power of its perfectly black appearance.
This unique piece will be auctioned in Shanghai, with all proceeds being donated to One Foundation in support of children. One Foundation was first founded in 2007 by Mr. Jet Li, with a focus on three major areas: disaster relief, child care and development, and charity support and innovation.
Being that children’s education is the first vehicle for change, it is the best lever for us, with your help, to improve our world. Available through the JD Auction site, this exceptional timepiece is combined with an unparalleled service.
H. Moser & Cie.’s own and unique take on Haute Horlogerie.
