Maintaining its commitment to the culture of filmmaking and the preservation of cinematic heritage, La Grande Maison will celebrate the 15th anniversary of its partnership with the Venice International Film Festival this year (August 28th to September 7th 2019).

Inspired by the parallels between the worlds of fine watchmaking and filmmaking, Jaeger-LeCoultre has enjoyed a close relationship with the cinematic arts for over more than a decade, including its partnership with Shanghai International Film Festival.

In June 2019, Jaeger-LeCoultre greeted Amanda Seyfried who presented Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Glory to the Filmmaker Award to filmmaker Tian Zhuangzhuang. Earlier this year, in January, Jaeger-LeCoultre had the great pleasure of welcoming Amanda Seyfried, at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Amanda was particularly captivated by the gem-setting technique, one of the Rare Handcrafts taking centre stage on the new Dazzling Rendez-Vous Night & Day watch that she was wearing.

“I was impressed by the patience and inspiration it takes to build each beautiful timepiece”.

The Dazzling Rendez-Vous Night & Day sets the stage for a new vision of the iconic Night & Day function. Combining gold, mother-of-pearl and diamonds with uncompromising attention to detail, the timepiece is as balanced as ever.

In September 2015, Nicholas Hoult started his relationship with Jaeger-LeCoultre at the Venice International Film Festival.

In January 2019, during his visit of Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, Nicholas discovered Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture and took the opportunity to see for himself the master artisans and the 180 watchmaking skills united under one roof.
He had a talk with the master enameller about the precision and patience required for the enamelling of a piece, a technique applied on the dial of the new Master Ultra Thin Enamel timepieces.

“The craftsmanship of the artists who worked at the manufacturer was incredible. To understand the complexity and skill it takes to design and create each piece was remarkable. Each watch is truly a work of love and art that lives and breathes.”

From producing components through assembling pallet-levers to performing delicate finishing operations, this exceptional visitor was introduced to all of the many stages involved in developing and crafting a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch.

In June 2019, He also attended a panel discussion with Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO, Catherine Rénier, at the Shanghai International Film Festival.
They explored the parallels between watchmaking and filmmaking, and the symbiotic relationship between cultural heritage and the future.

“Jaeger-LeCoultre has such and understanding of their heritage and that’s what makes them special, so it’s wonderful that they can help other industries have that same honour.”
