To kick off the model year, Laco is presenting two new pilot watches in a trendy military look. The two limited editions Augsburg Oliv 39 and Aachen Oliv 39 are each limited to 250 pieces and present the classic typography of the famous observation watches with their dials in a refined shade. The authentic vintage charm is underlined by the bronze-coloured case and the retro-look strap.
For the love of legends
For over 100 years, pilot watches have been flying high. As one of the most successful watch types ever, it owes its great popularity to the unmistakable design and functionality it demonstrates in all its elements. The characteristic instrument look of the dial is not a design gimmick, but results from its history as a technical tool in the cockpit, which was used for positioning and navigation as well as for many flight-specific calculations. Laco stands for pilot watches like hardly any other brand and presents not only authentic replicas of the historical originals, but also modern interpretations. To this day, these timepieces radiate an elemental spirit of adventure and inspire explorers and individualists with an active lifestyle.
With the two new watches, each limited to 250 pieces, Laco is following up on the success of the “Oliv 42” models launched last year, which sold out in a very short time. By reducing the case size by 3 mm to 39 mm, the watches have a much slimmer appearance and can also be worn on narrower wrists. The stainless steel case is covered with a bronze-coloured PVD coating, which emphasizes the “used look” character. The warm hue harmonizes expressively with the olive green dial. Inspired by military units and special commandos, the natural tone provides a fitting background for the strikingly matter-of-fact typography. The numerals, indexes and hands are coated with the luminous Superluminova “Old Radium”, which has a brownish vintage tone during the day, but glows intensely green in the dark.
Precise drive is provided by the high-quality automatic movement Laco 21, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. It is based on the proven Miyota 821A calibre and offers a power reserve of 42 hours, as well as a stop-second function, which allows precise setting of the time. Optionally, Laco also offers the option of upgrading to the Laco 31 calibre. This upgrade offers an increased power reserve of over 60 hours, as well as thermally blued screws as an additional visual highlight. The distinctive “field watch” look is complemented by rugged vintage-look leather straps. As a tribute to the history of the pilot watch, they are equipped with decorative rivets, which, like the buckle, once again pick up the colour tone of the case.
The “Augsburg Oliv 39” and the “Aachen Oliv 39” are available immediately directly from Laco and from selected retailers at a recommended retail price of 440 euros each.

Passion and tradition
The German watch brand Laco, based in the black forest town Pforzheim, has a corporate history that stretches back to 1925. The „Golden City“ has been the location for this small but long-established manufacturer from the very beginning. This traditional company earned its fame by constructing the legendary 55 mm sized observation watch, as one of only five licensed companies in the 1940s. Around twenty years later, with more than 1200 employees, Laco was counted as one of Germany‘s largest watch manufacturers. Today, the small team places emphasis again on handcraft. It is quality that counts in production, not quantity. The products range from pilot and navy watches, through to elegant chronographs and the purist Classic Line. But all Laco models have one thing in common: the highest quality, outstanding design and functionality in use.
