From time to time I like to visit the vintage watches websites to see what can I discover. Today I was not disappointed, more than that, I was impressed by this big boy: on watch-time.de, one of my often visited vintage websites, I found this very special Memovox: LeCoultre – Memovox POLARIS diver´s watch.
An automatic diver watch with date and alarm from the end of the 60’s or from the 70’s packed in a quite big oval steel case: 49mm × 43mm with 15mm width and with a gorgeous dial.
This timepiece can be taken in any great vacation: it’s vintage, looks amazing – the combination of the dial and bezel is unusual, it’s a diver watch. It’s a fun watch, a tool watch, an eye catcher – a perfect vacation companion.
The bezel for the diver’s function is very interesting: indices for every minute and roman numerals for the minutes decade. The dial is gorgeous: gun-metal grey with big metal blocks with blue luminescent at the edges as hour’s indices, date window at 6 o’clock and nice block hands filled with luminescent (tritium?).
The caliber used in this watch is the JLC916: 27jewels, Glucydur balance, automatically compensating flat hairspring beating with 28,800 vph, double barrel (the time barrel is bidirectional automatic winding and the alarm barrel is manual winding) with the alarm hammer inside the case back.
Please visit watch-time.de for their current offer, they have very interesting watches available on their website. I have no affiliation with watch-time.de, only their agreement to use the pictures and information from their website and I would like to thank them.
