Remember the name Marco Lang? The independent watchmaker is launching today its first line under his own name. Marco Lang Zweitgesicht-1 (Two-face-1 in open translation) offers two faces easily accessible by rotating the straps. The new watch comes in three variants (steel, gold and platinum). The first model in the “Zweigesicht” series gives the future wearer the opportunity to show the currently fitting “favorite face” to the upside by simply changing the strap attachment.
The special case-symmetrical movement construction allows the watch to appear slim and fresh despite the changeability. The proportion of the large 34mm caliber diameter to the 40mm case shows the demands on the quality and aesthetics of a precision watch.
ALL MOVEMENTS ARE MADE ALMOST ENTIRELY IN THE HANDS OF THE MASTER. AND BECAUSE ITS TIME IS LIMITED, WE ALSO LIMIT THIS MODEL SERIES. ONLY 18 WATCHES “ZWEIGESICHT-1” ARE PREPARED AND SOLD.
Changeable with 2 faces – the variations
The variants shown here serve as a guide, red thread and for price orientation. Since every watch is unique, the customer’s wishes will flow into some elements. The shapes and materials of the hands, hand engravings in the movement and on the case, even different cuts and polishes can be agreed with the future watch owner.

Flying bridges made of hardened steel are the basic design concept of the first movement in the new Marco-Lang project. Traditional watchmaking is combined with new forms, a fresh swing reveals an unusually large amount of depth and allows more and more fine details to be discovered.
The free four-legged balance with gold excenters is inspired by the shape of a Gothic church window.
The two series-connected barrels ensure a longer and comfortable running time for the movement; on the other hand, the movement is aesthetically freed from the massiveness of a single barrel.
The second additional hand mechanism displays the hours and minutes on a skeletonized, translucent “grand feu” enamelled dial.
And finally, the master shows his handwriting again in the play of materials and colours of polished, ground or blued steel with red rubies, wheels made of solid 14 ct. hard gold alloy over the rose gold-plated base plate.

The shock-indication
With a befriended watch collector, I came up with the following thought: In order to be able to objectively observe the precision of a watch movement, wearing habits play a major role.
The movement with all of its finely crafted parts is often exposed to small bumps on the wrist.
How big are the shocks, e.g. in different sports that the watch movement parries and from which direction do they come?
That gave me the idea of developing such an assembly and integrating it into the movement.
In the movement level, X and Y coordinates are recorded and displayed using a hand spring mechanism with 4 hands. A small weight ensures the deflection of two forks, which in turn move two hands each. These are held in the deflected position by a fine locking toothing. The wearer can also reset the system at any time using a corrector.
Extremely miniaturized, the assembly is located opposite the crown wheel, with the pretty bat bridge an aesthetic highlight in the interplay of the parts.
