Meccaniche Veloci Icon Damascus collection becomes a limited edition with a production of 10 pieces per year and limited serial number engraved on the case back. The initiative responds to the important request related to this timepiece and respects the production rhythms of Meccaniche Veloci.
The unprecedented project, which involves this special model, is part of the new course of the Maison that for some years now has been offering exclusively limited-edition watches with proprietary movement, as well as certified for the Swiss origin of all their components. Particular attention is paid to the quality and craftsmanship of the watch, as per the tradition of Meccaniche Veloci.
The damascus steel used for Icon Damascus is forged by an Italian craftsman in the northern region of Milan and then the raw material is sent to Switzerland to be machined by Meccaniche Veloci. The timepiece explores a steel technique used for more than a thousand years. The allure of history turns into a very topical aesthetic and design concept. The steel is stretched and folded down on itself many times during forging. This process creates a unique pattern, that becomes the proud protagonist of the timepiece’s case. The decorative motif of the Damascus steel originates from the union of different types of metal, this aspect corresponds to an exceptional resistance and stability quality over time.
The metal of the 49 millimeter case and of the bezel shows a texture characterized by irregular “waves” that create shiny and opaque effects. In this unreleased background stand out the distinctive four matt black dials, each one indicating minutes and hours, while the date and the red seconds hand are located on the bottom right dial and top right dial. The functions of every single dial are regulated via their corresponding crowns.
The caseback, which is also embellished with the effects of metal processing, bears the inscription of the limited serial number, such as “2/10 in year 1” as well as the name of the watch and the serial number of the case.
The metal effect is interrupted on the case middle by a black a-DLC titanium band that besides adding more audacity to the timepiece, emulates and celebrates the next-gen pistons with black Teflon anti-seize insert.
Icon Damascus is driven by the calibre MV 8802 developed in-house, which is visible through the open caseback.
The strap, directly attached to the case via a system that does not require lugs, is in black leather with red stitching and a black a-DLC steel folding clasp.

Meccaniche Veloci heads for United Kingdom
The watch brand has formed a partnership with The Devoy Group Ltd to develop its distribution in the UK and Scandinavia
When it comes to international distribution Meccaniche Veloci has its foot on the accelerator, starting with the United Kingdom via a collaboration with The Devoy Group Ltd, an agent tasked with developing the brand on the UK and Scandinavian markets.
What drives this new project is the selection of new models that Meccaniche Veloci has in store for the coming year, including the launch of a brand new timepiece. The brand’s arrival on the new markets will be the ideal opportunity to present the current selection, composed of iconic timepieces from the Icon and QuattroValvole collections that feature the unmistakable 49 mm case in the shape of an engine piston.
“The British market, and northern Europe in general, have always shown an interest in our watches. Over the years we have managed the requests individually; now we are ready to approach these markets in a structured manner. We are delighted to work with The Devoy Group, which boasts many years’ sales and marketing experience in the independent brand sector. I am certain that their highly professional approach, when applied to the distribution of Meccaniche Veloci goods to the countries they represent, will bring significant results”, says Cesare Cerrito, CEO of Meccaniche Veloci.
“We believe that our wealth of experience has got us where we are today; we love what we do and what we are doing for our brands. We have a very high regard for Meccaniche Veloci, a unique brand built on the vision of Cesare Cerrito, and are delighted that they have chosen the Devoy Group as partner for their next adventures”, adds Andy Good, Managing Director of the Devoy Group.
The team at the Devoy Group has over 20 years’ experience in sales and marketing on behalf of high-end watch manufacturers and independent brands.
Today, Meccaniche Veloci operates on an international level via its e-commerce website and a network of around 25 dealerships. The brand, which is historically highly successful in Japan, a market managed by a local distributor, is preparing for a whole new chapter in its history.
