MING Watch is releasing a new piece to celebrate 5 years since the birth of the brand: MING 37.04 Monopusher. Please find the official press release
We wanted to do something really special for our 5th anniversary. It would certainly come out of the Special Projects Cave, the source of our more unusual watches, and would have to be made in larger (though still not large) numbers than previously – we are painfully aware that due to exotic movement availability and engineering challenges, we have not been able to offer many SPC pieces to date.
Not long ago, we found, secured and reworked a number of the right movement in time to announce reference #50 for our 5th-anniversary celebrations. Back in the 90s, a certain group formed of Messers. Journe, Halter and Flageollet designed a hand-winding monopusher chronograph movement that would find fame in a tortue-shape case; it is an improved version of this very same movement which you will find inside our new MING 37.04.
The movements have been overhauled, updated and refinished by La Joux Perret in La-Chaux-de-Fonds to our specifications, with new skeletonized bridges receiving a classical grained 5N rose gold coating and hand-polished anglage in the style of our MING 19.02 and 19.05.
Topping this is a black guilloche dial by Comblemine – a dial producer that requires little introduction. This dial is in turn covered by a sapphire layer that embeds the various chronograph scales (minutes, pulsometer, tachymeter) at different levels and in SuperLumiNova X1 to further enhance depth and legibility. We sank the chronograph minute counter – also luminous embedded – into the metal dial and eliminated running seconds in the interests of minimalism.
All of this sits in a MING 37-series case, with signature flared and twisted lugs. It is made of grade 5 titanium with display back, multiple textured finishes, and re-engineered for a crown-inline monopusher. Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne remains responsible for engineering and final assembly, with our usual partners Jean Rousseau and Koji Sato providing finishing touches.
We have enough movements and spares to make 100 of these watches available; with allocation priority given to existing customers on the SPC Interest List (though hopefully there are enough to satisfy a greater audience). Pricing will be CHF 29,500 with a 50% deposit due on order confirmation and the balance on delivery – which is scheduled to begin March 2023 and continue through Q2-2023.
We will open for registrations of interest from 1PM GMT, 18 August to 1PM GMT, 28 August. More details on the watch and registering an interest to purchase can be found on www.ming.watch.

About MING
Horologer MING was founded and funded by six enthusiasts from around the world under the leadership of Ming Thein, a photographer, designer, business strategist and above all, a lover of watches. Together, the MING team draws from extensive collecting experience ranging from vintage to avant-garde; from quality affordables to six-figure commissioned independent pieces.
Our goal with MING has always been to make the watches we ourselves want, and to bring back that sense of excitement and discovery through deliberation and refinement in every detail while also delivering value beyond the price point. We neither pretend to have history nor are we burdened by it. We will be the first to admit that we don’t build in-house but rather on the strengths of dedicated partners like Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne, Agenhor and Jean Rousseau. All our watches are assembled, regulated and tested in Switzerland, with final quality control completed personally in Malaysia.
MING is our way of sharing our experience with enthusiasts – budding aficionados and seasoned collectors alike – who want to discover watchmaking substance beyond brand. We are proud to have our efforts recognized at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, with multiple finalists and the 17.06 Copper winning the 2019 Horological Revelation prize.
In 2021 we also launched the Special Projects Cave, an invitation-only program to create small runs of experimental pieces that are concept-driven and unencumbered by regular production constraints or economics.
2022 will mark the fifth anniversary of the brand, and our most exciting lineup to date – including reference #50!
We’re always happy to hear from fellow enthusiasts – please contact us at hello@ming.watch, and follow our journey @mingwatches on Instagram.
