NOMOS Tangente Neomatik Nachtblau

Nomos Tangente Neomatik Nachtblau

Reading Time: 2 minutes

It’s a lovely watch and I like it: the Ref. 177 from Nomos. It’s simple, looks very good and I spot it immediately at a gentleman’s wrist.

This watch has a simple, elegant look and if it looks fragile it is just an impression. The case is 35.0 mm in diameter and has a height of 6.9 mm. It’s stainless steel, bipartite with a sapphire crystal glass on top and sapphire crystal glass back and has a water resistance of 3 atm.

The midnight blue dial is lacquered with green and silver-colored print and in real life, it looks gorgeous. The hour and minute’s hands are rhodium-plated and the small second’s hand is neon orange lacquered. The hands are well proportioned and fit perfectly on the entire look.

The font used by Nomos for the roman numerals is beautiful and increases the elegant perception of the dial.

The watch strap is Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan black, remborde and hand-stitched leader and comes with a NOMOS buckle clasp.

Inside the watch is an in-house caliber – the DUW3001 and I consider that this movement sets a precedent regarding the price and quality for a final watch relatively cheap (for a watch developed in-house). DUW stands for: NOMOS Glashütte Deutsche Uhrenwerke.

The automatic winding DUW 3001 is a 12 ¾ lines (28.8 mm), 3.2 mm thick movement, it has a swing system with a tempered blue balance spring, 27 jewels and 42 hours power reserve.
The special characteristics are: stop-seconds mechanism, Glashütte three-quarter plate, NOMOS balance bridge, bi-directional winding rotor, Incabloc shock protection, DUW regulation system, adjusted in six positions

“The caliber is 94.2% efficient – there is effectively only 5.8% loss in energy due to friction (the missing 5.8% from the 100%), which is quite an accomplishment as this figure is typically closer to 20% in traditional automatic movements. For those familiar with such statistics, this figure might seem almost unbelievable.” – Nomos Website

The caliber is decorated with the tempered blue screws, rhodium plated surfaces with Glashütte ribbing and NOMOS perlage and beveled edges. The entire construction is very nice visual balanced.

The price of this beauty is 2660 EUR incl. duties and taxes, free shipping but a delivery time of 2 months.
I would like to thank Nomos for the information and images. Please visit the Nomos Website for more information and to see the other collection. The watch can be bought from the Online Shop or from the Official retailers.
