O.Time1 Carbon Luminescent

O.Time1 Carbon Luminescent by Dietrich Watches

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I’ve always regarded the watch as an extension of the human body. A living presence on the wrist; a delicate organ that measures our time.” Emanuel Dietrich

I decided to start this post by quoting Mr Dietrich not only because it is a truth credo for every watch lover and collector but because I see it as a kept promise (regarding his watches). With a case measuring 48mm in length, 46mm in width and 13.7mm height, the OT1 is a big watch, but… And there is a big but, when I put it on my wrist, rather small, I was surprised. The way that the OT1 stays on the wrist, it was, as Mr Dietrich said – an extension of my wrist. I was thrilled, It is the first watch in this size that I really like how it looks and feels on my wrist.

Dietrich OT1 Carbon Luminescent

From all the Dietrich Collection, the one that I love most is the O.Time1 Carbon Luminescent: a watch with forged carbon bezel with luminescent resin on a brushed 316L steel. The way that this watch evolves from a grey quiet watch into a green beast,  “radioactive” Hulk, is spectacular.

The case and the frame are 316L stainless steel, micro-bead blasted and coated with black PVD. The result is spectacular. The bezel is fixed to the case using black PVD steel hex screw. This increases the complexity of the face of the watch. The crystal used is a custom cut sapphire crystal. The black PVD steel crown features the Dietrich Watches Logo and a double o-ring.

The case back is screwed brushed steel with o-ring. The case is 50m water resistant.

The dial is a multilayered display: the first and the third layer are dark grey sun-brushed,  the second and fourth layer have a vertical brushed dark grey.

The hour and minutes hands are treated with green Super-LumiNova®. The same treatment is done for the 24h indicator, placed at 9:30 o’clock and for the hour’s indexes that are placed on the back side of the sapphire crystal (together with minute indexes). This gives an extraordinary depth effect to the dial.

The golden second’s indication, placed at 4:30 o’clock, uses a 6 tip, star-shaped indicator together with a ten seconds indication on the dial, which show the passing seconds with a complete rotation in one minute.

The multilayered dial offers in centrum a view to the Miyota 82S7: 11 1/2”’ movement (25.6mm diameter with 5.67mm height, 21 jewels) with 40 hours power reserve and a visible heart at 7 o’clock, beating with 21600vph – a rather low 3Hz. The movement is known as a reliable and robust caliber with satin-brushed finishes on the main bridge that fits perfectly to the Dietrich Watches.

The O.Time-1 Watch Carbon Green Luminescent comes with bright green stitching Karung strap and grey PVD buckle with the “Dietrich” brand name engraved. On the Website is available, at the lower side of the screen, a preview of the watch with different types of straps that can be separately acquired.
The lugs are fixed, but designed in a way that permits an easy change of the strap, as it is exemplified below.

The price of this watch is 1950CHF, can be bought from the Dietrich Watches Online or from one of the Official Retailers.
