This beauty is not (just) our classic Sydney Diver. It was offered up to French artist seconde/seconde/ as a canvas to create another unique timepiece. Romaric and Christo worked together to convey a concept of perspective and perception. Make of it what you will, it’s all a matter of perspective. Shark fin? Surf fin? Your call, your mood, your vibe. This design invites the wearer to consider the dual perspectives in every story, especially in our relationship with the natural world. Under the bonnet, it’s still the best Dive Watch made in Australia – seconde/seconde/ x Bausele Sydney Driver.
“Before I met the brand, I met the people behind the brand. The people at Bausele are some sort of my opposite. They are cheerful and friendly. They are Australian (not necessarily born-and-raised Australian, but Australian at-heart). So, yes. They are my opposite. We’re living at antipodes. When the possibility of collab was mentioned, I brought “all the Australian clichés” in my personal brainstorm. Those clichés are usually not a good final idea but may help as a process starter. So let’s go. Australia. Sports. Nature. Surfboard. Sharks. Kangaroo. Sydney Opera House… Oh… The Sydney Opera House always made me think about shark fins instead of the usual sails… So shark again. Then Surfboard again. And that reminded me that I always associated shark fins and surf fins in my personal “who’s the real “Seamaster”” dilemma…
That never-ending-and-pointless-question-of mine, fitting so well with the Australian “opposite and antipodes” vibes, convinced me I was onto something. Something about Perspective, something about a thing not being the same thing while being the same thing depending on your point of view. Something that you just cannot make the parties agree on. Something of a never-ending debate. Something at the end almost Kafkaesque and nerve-wracking… I told you. I’m the opposite of the Bausele team. They are fun and adorable. And I’m just a party-killer.”

“In our collaboration with Seconde/Seconde/, which began with me sending a simple, hopeful DM from a fan of their remarkable work, we’ve intertwined the threads of time and perspective. This partnership is not just about creating a watch; it’s about shining a light on Australia and its burgeoning watchmaking scene. Together, we’ve crafted more than a timepiece; we’ve created a symbol of the ever-shifting views that define our world, celebrating the dynamic nature of time and the Australian spirit.”
