The first Piaget Polo was launched in 1979 and quickly made a name for itself as an elegant wristwatch with a sporty chic. At the time, its appearance was characterized by a fully integrated bracelet made of distinctive gold bars, with which the Polo fits snugly around the wrist. The ultra-thin quartz calibre 7P from Piaget provided the precise drive, which represented the absolute peak of electronic watchmaking at the time. We take a leap in time and land in 2016, where the current generation Polo sees the light of day. It is seen as Piaget’s answer to the ever-growing demand for 1970s watch designs, with integrated straps in the classic framing of sporty luxury watches. If a direct comparison is made with the historical model from 1979, the new Polo is far more modern and slender in shape. This progressive design is now also available with a black dial and matching black rubber strap – Piaget Polo Date Black Ref. G0A47014.
The new Polo Date: Timeless design
With the 1970s, the roots of the Piaget Polo clearly lie in one of the most exciting eras of modern watchmaking. A time when fine steel watches with flat construction and integrated bracelets first reached the exclusive price range of true luxury watches. The new Polo Date Black skillfully takes this DNA and combines it with sporty details to create a timeless design.
Piaget Polo wears black for a daily and unique look. A black and stainless-steel contrast to highlight the unique shape-in-shape Piaget design codes: a cushion-shape dial in a round case. So many details in a powerful and contrasting black dial: stylized hands and indexes with SuperLuminova® to never lose track of time at night. An eye-catching second hand with a daring red tip echoed with a “P” signature. To live at the rhythm of people on the go, Piaget Polo wears an interchangeable textured rubber strap and beats with the 1110P automatic Manufacture movement. And for the most daring, it offers a 10-ATM water resistance.

About Piaget
Piaget epitomizes daring creativity – a quality that has continued to permeate through the Maison since its beginnings in 1874. From his first workshop in La Côte-aux-Fées, Georges-Edouard Piaget devoted himself to crafting high-precision movements in a feat that formed the very foundations of our pioneering name. In the late 1950s, Piaget unveiled the ultra-thin movements that would later become the Maison’s trademark and the cornerstone of the Altiplano collection. As a true innovator of the watch and jewellery world, Piaget strongly believed in creativity and artistic values. It is within the walls of our “Ateliers de l’Extraordinaire” where master artisans continue to harness rare skills that have been preserved and perfected from generation to generation, transforming gold, stones and precious gems into dazzling works of art. Through its pursuit of masterful craftsmanship, the Maison has created emblems of daring excellence channeled into its collections including Piaget Altiplano, Piaget Polo, Limelight Gala, Possession, Sunlight, Piaget Rose and Extremely Piaget.
