Pforzheim, September 2023 – Laco, the renowned watch manufacturer from Pforzheim, Germany, is not only famous for its pilot watches, but also its exceptional navy watches which are an integral part of the company’s collection. This fall, Laco will enhance its line of navy watches with brand-new versions of its beloved Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven timepieces. A new feature is an added version with a smaller case diameter. Inspired by the classic navy pocket watches from the 1940s, these new items combine traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance.

Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven

Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven are tributes to maritime history and the traditional art of watchmaking of years past. The larger versions (case diameter of 42.5 mm) had been offered by Laco until the middle of last year, when they were removed from the collection in anticipation of the planned relaunch. Nevertheless, demand for the watches has remained high and watch lovers around the world are eagerly awaiting the new versions.

Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven

Among the novelties, Laco fans will discover two watches with a smaller case diameter of 39 mm. This diameter provides for more possibilities, allowing watch lovers to opt for a more compact timepiece without having to sacrifice on vintage charm. As for the dials – Bremerhaven in striking black and Cuxhaven in glossy white – they absolutely dazzle in both sizes. Meanwhile, the hands, numerals, and indices are coated with the luminous material Superluminova C3 to ensure optimal readability at night and in poor lighting conditions. The edges of the hour and minute hands are painted black on the Bremerhaven, and thermally blued on the lighter Cuxhaven.

The small seconds window at 6 o’clock adds an extra touch of sophistication, and like the railroad-style minute track, is reminiscent of the original versions. Both watches come equipped with a premium hand-wound movement for ultra-precise timekeeping. The new larger watches (case diameter of 42.5 mm) impress with their tried-and-true, hand-wound, ETA Unitas 6498.1 movement, a true rarity on the watch market. The smaller watches are made with a precise, hand-wound, Sellita SW261 movement from Switzerland. All designs are designed with robust sapphire crystal and a large see-through back (also made of sapphire crystal) that provides for a stunning glimpse of the embellished movement. The lighter watch Cuxhaven is highlighted by a beige calfskin leather strap that quickly develops a patina to provide for a touch of vintage flair. The Bremerhaven, on the other hand, comes with a smooth, black leather strap that perfectly matches the timeless style of the black dial.

“With these new Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven timepieces, watch lovers can flaunt the fascinating history of maritime culture on their wrist. Each of these special watches is marked by Laco’s renowned quality and incomparable attention to detail,” assert the product managers.

About Laco: Manufacture with passion and tradition
The German watch brand Laco, based in the black forest town Pforzheim, has a corporate history that stretches back to 1925. The “Golden City” has been the location for this small but long-established manufacturer from the very beginning.
This traditional company earned its fame by constructing the legendary 55 mm sized observation watch, as one of only five licensed firms in the 1940s. Around twenty years later, with more than 1200 employees, Laco was counted as one of Germany’s largest watch manufacturers. Today, the small team places emphasis again on handcraft. It is quality that counts in production, not quantity.
The products range from pilot and navy watches, through to elegant chronographs and the purist Classic Line. But all Laco models have one thing in common: the highest quality, outstanding design and functionality in use.
In addition to their own online shop, Laco also offers for sale at the factory in Pforzheim. From Monday to Friday, this offers an opportunity to pick up a new watch directly from where experienced watchmakers have manufactured it intricately by hand.
