Rexhep Rexhepi Chronometre Contemporain was launched at Baselworld 2018. Since then, the maturity piece of l’enfant terrible was awarded with the GPHG’s Men’s Prize. The Chronometre Contemporain is available in two versions: platinum with white dial and rose gold with black dial. I will present both pieces today as a gallery with captions for details. Rexhep was spotted during Baselworld with a steel version.
Rexhep Rexhepi Chronometre Contemporain
I follow Akrivia, respectively Rexhep Rexhepi and his brother Xhevdet since the first AK01. They have very interesting Instagram accounts where they present their work: Rexhep, Xhevdet and Akrivia. Unfortunately, I have managed to get only a short clip of the Chronometre Contemporain platinum version. The pictures are also not the best but I hope I will raise your interest.

The case has a three parts construction with multiple concave and convex surfaces

The Rexhep Rexhepi logo is the first time present on the Akrivia watches. Asking Rexhep about its decision, he told me he feels that is the time for its name to be seen on the dial. He considers the brand mature enough for such a bold move.
The dials are impressive. The layout inspires a traditional, classic note.
It is interesting the decision to have Roman numeral for every two hours. The perfect symmetry is born.
The selection of indexes keeps the dial’s layout clean. Yet, a striking legibility makes the time readout effortless.
The small seconds’ complication is placed at 6 o’clock, occupying a large area of the dial
The hours’ chapter ring is continued delicately inside the small seconds subdial
The seconds’ register is represented by a fine railtrack with Arabic numeral for every 20 seconds.
The large small seconds sub-dial is decorated with a gold polished circle
While the small seconds are a distinctive entity on the dial, the integration is graceful
The rose gold version is my favourite Chronometre Contemporain due to its lovely black and gold contrast

The movement has a symmetrical construction left to right
The movement architecture is one of the most beautiful available now
The reflections highlight various parts of the movement
The movement is decorated with delicate but large Geneva waves

The bridges are exceptional finished. Even the acute inner angles are flawlessly finished
The mainplate presents a nice perlage. The decorating process can be seen on the brothers IG accounts.
