The Ripples Collections

First launched in 2022, the RIPPLES collection marks the introduction of Speake Marin’s first sport-chic watch, entirely crafted in stainless steel.

Designed by Stéphane Lacroix, RIPPLES is distinguished by its “La City” case inspired by the architecture of the eponymous London financial district, in homage to the brand’s British heritage. The original dial decoration with twelve three-dimensional horizontal “ripples”, from which the collection is named, enhances the contemporary style. The heart-tipped hour hand, which reminds us of London’s monumental Big Ben, is a further link to its legacy.

The RIPPLES collection is like a blank canvas on which the artist, inspired by observation of his surroundings, depicts his emotions with shapes and colours. Each new work evokes a state of mind, demonstrating the Maison’s great ability to be versatile, innovative and forward-thinking.

The new Speake Marin Ripples Infinity Date – Inspiration

On the occasion of Watches and Wonders 2024, Speake Marin presents the new “Ripples Infinity date”.
This latest addition to the RIPPLES family features a metallic silver dial. A neutral hue that takes centre stage on the display. White, in its various shades, is the essence of all colours and synonymous with purity, lightness and infinity.

“Ripples Infinity date ” takes us into a journey towards the immensity of space, arousing the desire to explore new horizons, to face new challenges by pushing the known boundaries.

A desire, the latter, strongly rooted in the Geneva-based Maison’s mission: the pursuit of innovation and excellence while remaining faithful to the art of Swiss watchmaking updated to the 21st century.

With its useful date display at 6 o’clock, “Ripples Infinity date” is the perfect companion for daily life in the urban world. Business-oriented to remind you of the date of an important appointment, it is also a precious timepiece for a gala occasion thanks to its refined finishing and sophisticated elegance.

A unique stylistic identity

Case & Bracelet: contemporary style and comfort on the wrist.

A skilfully balanced blend of round and square shapes characterises the harmonious look of the case of the RIPPLES collection. A design that in just two years has become iconic and immediately associated with the brand. Crafted in stainless steel with an alternating polished/satin finish, it comprises no fewer than 40 components, has a diameter of 40.3 mm and is water-resistant to 5 atm. This case is the only one in the Speake Marin collections to boast the screw-down crown protection. An ergonomic and slender creation measuring only 9.2 mm in thickness due to the micro-rotor fully integrated into the movement.

The square bezel, reminiscent of a porthole, has rounded sides with polished bevelled profile and satin-finished surface. This combination of finishes allows for sparkling and ever-changing reflections of light.
The screw-down transparent case back allows to admire the beauty of the manufacture movement. Both dial and the rear of the case are protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass.

The case is conceived to offer a natural extension with the integrated three-row satin-finished steel bracelet with a gleaming central link. The folding clasp is engraved with the Maison’s logo. Additionally, the bracelet has been developed without a push-button to enhance the aesthetic appeal and wearing comfort.

The dial: the magic of infinity and its sparkling reflection of light

“Ripples Infinity date” features a sophisticated dial, visually simple but technically complex in its execution. A wide range of manufacturing processes and finishes give life to the impressive twelve engraved horizontal ripples, which endow the dial with personality and depth. Each of them is masterfully hand satin-finished, thus bestowing uniqueness to each piece. For the occasion, the rhodium-plated display is decked out in silver with a metallic effect. A soft, delicate tone that expresses refinement, lightness, purity and allows for various light reflections that takes the wearer on a journey into infinite space.

In addition, the ripples pattern, combined with the applied, rhodium-plated and polished indexes, as well as the heart-tipped hour hands, create a dynamic interlay of lights and shadows that enhances the watch’s legibility.

The small seconds counter at 1:30, one of Speake Marin’s signature features, boasts a sunray decoration, shiny black indices and a polished steel hand. The minute track, on a scale of 5, is ton-sur-ton with the dial and indicates the minutes with black dots.

In addition to the hours, minutes and small seconds functions, “Ripples Infinity date” provides a practical date display at 6 o’clock on a matt black background with contrasting white Arabic numerals. The silhouette of the date display echoes the proportions of the double index at 12 o’clock. The rectangular frame is rhodium-plated, shot-blasted on the lateral part, and polished on the upper part.

The end result is a dial that imbues the Ripples models with a strong personality, thanks to the Speake Marin team’s mastery in combining the noble techniques of the past with the most cutting-edge technologies.

The movement: its beating heart

“Ripples Infinity date” is equipped with the in-house self-winding calibre, reference SMA03-TD. “T” stands for “Tradition” as the movement boasts excellent finishing as required by the high-quality standards of Swiss watchmaking, and the “D” for the date display.

Comprising 162 components, this movement is manufactured in the Speake Marin atelier “Le Cercles des Horlogers” based in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland). With its regulation organ beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it has a fully integrated tungsten micro-rotor and its barrel guarantees 52-hour power reserve when not worn on the wrist. The calibre uses 31 jewels that act as ball bearings between the gears, reducing friction and ensuring smooth functioning, as well as reducing wear.

The small seconds counter is visible at 1:30. An unusual position that has become distinctive for the brand. It is not only aesthetically appealing, but also mechanically complex, as it involves a well-conceived structure of the calibre to avoid the time adjustment module.

This superb calibre is clearly visible through the sapphire crystal porthole showing the four rhodium-plated bridges, decorated with 3-mm Geneva stripes and hand-polished bevelled profiles, the micro-rotor adorned with an exclusive Speake Marin embossed motif, and the mainplate is embellished with circular graining finish.

The complexity of the movement powering the ‘Ripples Infinity date’ is testament to the brand’s constant commitment to excellence, with no compromise on quality and respect for the prestigious centuries-old Swiss watchmaking tradition.
