What do you associate with Glashütte Original? Functional design, flawless aesthetics, perfect readability? Then you are probably familiar with the Panorama Date. The brand is proud that this date display – a complication developed and manufactured in-house – can look back on 25 years of history.
A traditional window with a view
No other complication is as closely associated with Glashütte Original as the manufactory’s signature big date. Presented for the first time in 1997, it combines functionality and flawless aesthetics in a display known as Panorama Date.
Spacious date display
Some 25 years ago our designers envisioned a new date display that would be perfectly legible and aesthetic beyond reproach. To this end, they placed two numerical discs concentrically on the same level. The Panorama Date thus requires no central separation bar to conceal any difference in height between the two discs.
Staged with style
A clear typeface, a background attuned to the colour of the dial and a stepped passe-partout opening offer a stylish setting for the Panorama Date. Whether tone-in-tone or in high-contrast: the Panorama Date is always a visual delight.
Technically sophisticated
The Panorama Date has a great deal to offer, not just in visual terms. It can also be extremely precise. Our Senator Chronometer, for example, is fitted with a “jumping date”, which ensures that the Panorama Date advances to the next day precisely at midnight.
With our Senator Cosmopolite, the complication serves a particularly innovative function: the central hour and minute hands show the correct local time at the traveler’s destination, complemented by the correct date. If during the journey the time crosses midnight, the Panorama Date displays the change of date, either forwards or back, depending on the direction of travel.
A feminine interpretation
Our characteristic big date appears in the PanoMatic Luna in an exceptionally elegant and feminine interpretation. The date window has an oval shape and harmonizes perfectly with the shimmering glow of the mother-of-pearl dial.
